Hillary Clinton Urges Donations For Louisiana, Not “Distractions”

While Republican White House hopeful Donald Trump grandstands in Louisiana, attempting to look presidential in the aftermath of terrible flooding, Democrat Hillary Clinton urges folks to make donations to organizations who can actually help in a time of crisis and not be a “distraction.”

The Red Cross – doing critical work to provide medical assistance and supplies to the victims of this natural disaster.

The Baton Rouge Area Foundation – a local organization that’s directing money to community non-profits that need it.

Hillary Clinton Leads Donald Trump By 30 Points In New York State

According to Donald Trump, he will be competitive in the general election against Hillary Clinton in their shared home state of New York.

The facts are bearing out a different narrative.

The latest Siena poll shows the former Secretary of State running ahead of Trump 57% vs 27%.

In a four way race, Clinton still holds an impressive 25 point lead.

Electoral Map: If Colorado, Virginia, Pennsylvania & New Hampshire Go Blue

Huffington Post’s Sam Stein posits via Twitter that “If you assume that Colo, Va, Pennsylvania and NH are off the board — as #s suggest — then the election’s over.”

Recent polls show Hillary Clinton ahead in those vital swing states by an average of 11%, 8%, 9% and 8% respectively according to Real Clear Politics.

That takes Clinton to 273, past the winning 270 mark, without electoral vote rich states Florida or Ohio.

It’s notable, however, that Clinton currently leads in those states as well by smaller margins of about 3%. The latest CBS News Battleground Tracker poll puts Clinton up by 5% in Florida.

Super-stats guy Nate Silver currently puts Clinton’s odds of winning the White House at almost 89%.

New Poll: Clinton Leading In Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Colorado

More good news for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton as NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist polls show her leading in the vital swing states of Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and Colorado:

In the key battleground of Florida, which President Obama won in 2008 and 2012, Clinton is ahead of Trump by five points among registered voters, 44 percent to 39 percent, with the rest saying neither, other or they’re undecided.

In North Carolina, which Obama won in 2008 but lost in 2012, the former secretary of state has a nine-point advantage over Trump, 48 percent to 39 percent.

In Virginia, Clinton’s lead is 13 points, 46 percent to 33 percent.

And in Colorado, the Democrat is ahead by a whopping 14 points, 46 percent to 32 percent.

Earlier results from NBC News polls showed Clinton ahead in swing states Iowa, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Ed Demaria, of NBC News, points out that if you just add up the states where Clinton has a lead of 9 points or more, she’s already past the required 270 electoral votes to win the White House. That’s not counting states like Michigan or Wisconsin which are traditionally blue states; or Nevada or Florida with heavy concentrations of Hispanic voters which are breaking decidedly for Clinton.

Protester Rushes Stage At Hillary Clinton Rally, Clinton Doesn’t Flinch

The Independent is reporting on an animal rights activist who rushed the stage at a Hillary Clinton rally as the former Secretary of State was speaking.

Hillary Clinton was rushed at by an animal rights protester during a speech on the economy, the second time in a week. Ms Clinton was talking in Des Moines, Iowa, and facing the other way as a woman launched herself over the barrier and towards the stage.

She has been named as 26-year-old Kelsey Atkinson from campaign group Direct Action Everywhere, which fights for “total animal liberation”. Just as the protester got to the steps, Secret Service staff pulled Ms Atkinson away.

You’ll note as the Secret Service take the protester down in the background Hillary doesn’t even flinch or break stride as she continues talking on her policy proposals.

Monmouth Poll: Hillary Clinton Leads By 13 Points

The latest poll from Monmouth University echoes what we’ve seen lately in other national polls.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has a 13 point lead with 46% support versus 34% for Republican Donald Trump, 7% for Libertarian Gary Johnson and 2% for Green Party’s Jill Stein.

While Clinton has firmed up her base (92% of Dems say they’ll vote her way), Donald Trump is struggling with only 79% of Republicans.

Trump and Clinton currently split independents 32% and 30% respectively.

Sen. Bernie Sanders: “Donald Trump Would Be A Disaster And An Embarrassment”

Sen. Bernie Sanders pens this op-ed for the LA Times wherein he implores his supporters to vote for Hillary Clinton and make sure Donald Trump gets nowhere near the presidency.

The conventions are over and the general election has officially begun. In the primaries, I received 1,846 pledged delegates, 46% of the total. Hillary Clinton received 2,205 pledged delegates, 54%. She received 602 superdelegates. I received 48 superdelegates. Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee and I will vigorously support her.

Donald Trump would be a disaster and an embarrassment for our country if he were elected president. His campaign is not based on anything of substance — improving the economy, our education system, healthcare or the environment. It is based on bigotry.

I understand that many of my supporters are disappointed by the final results of the nominating process, but being despondent and inactive is not going to improve anything. Going forward and continuing the struggle is what matters. And, in that struggle, the most immediate task we face is to defeat Donald Trump.
