GLEE’s Jane Lynch to divorce

According to People Magazine, Jane Lynch is divorcing her wife Lara Embry: People magazine reports:

“Lara and I have decided to end our marriage. This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter,” Lynch says in a statement.

Lynch, 52, and Embry, 44, met at a 2009 fundraiser in San Francisco at which Embry was being honored. Shortly after confirming their engagement, the women married on Memorial Day in 2010 in an intimate ceremony in Sunderland, Mass., one of the few states where gay marriage is recognized.

HBO has just picked up its new San Francisco based gay dramedy pilot starring GLEE and Broadway hottie Jonathan Groff for a complete season!

Deadline has the details:

HBO has picked up to series the Michael Lannan dramedy pilot executive produced by Andrew Haigh, Sarah Condon and David Marshall Grant,Sarah Condon.

The network has given an eight-episode order to the untitled project, which revolves around three friends in San Francisco (Frankie J. Alvarez, Murray Bartlett, Jonathan Groff), who explore the fun and sometimes overwhelming options available to a new generation of gay men.

Production is expected to start in the fall in San Francisco for a 2014 premiere.

The pickup of the untitled San Francisco project comes as HBO’s latest comedy series,Family Tree, opened to soft numbers on Sunday. HBO also has new comedy Hello Ladies coming up and recently renewed Veep and Girls.

Glee: Guilty Pleasure (on occasion)

So, spent the evening catching up on GLEE episodes. Yeah, I still stay in touch with the show when I have some time.

The most recent episode was about ‘guilty pleasures.’ And I realized watching the show that GLEE itself is a guilty pleasure of mine.

True, very true, the stories and characters aren’t nearly as quirky and fresh as they used to be.

BUT I still like how the show integrates some of my favorite music and often reinvents those songs. Like the one above.

I laughed out loud at how gay and 70s the ABBA song was performed. At the very least, they are having fun with the music.

So, yeah, GLEE is still a guilty pleasure for me. Not as great a show was it once promised to be, but they still serve up some fun music and visuals every now and then.

GLEE: Holding Out For A Hero

This week’s super hero themed duets episode may be one more sign that perhaps GLEE has “jumped the shark.”

But you have to laugh and enjoy – especially the use of the whip in this clip as “style fan” for hair blowing.

I will say though – whether for good or bad reasons, I’m still finding things on the show to entertain me.

BTW – Out.com points out that the split done at the beginning of the GLEE clip could be a nod to what is considered the “Best Drag Queen Entrance EVER!”; watch the footage of the late Tandi Iman Dupree covering Tyler’s 80s hit, and get ready to scream at the :25 mark
