Darren Criss – A fan licked my face

Darren Criss is this month’s ‘Cosmo Guy‘.

In a short Q&A, Cosmo asks Criss if he ever feels the need to externalize his heterosexuality because he’s playing gay on TV:

No. I know who I am. I feel bad for guys who have to flex their muscles. But hey, if that’s the way to make yourself feel comfortable as a man—as long as it isn’t antagonizing anybody—go for it. I’m okay with your getting a Miata to feel like a dude; just don’t be a dick about it.

He also describes a pretty “wet and wild” encounter with a Gleek:

A guy licked my face—straight up grabbed my head and licked my face.

GLEE posts “Memorial Card” video of Cory Monteith

GLEE has released a “Memorial Card” video honoring the life of late actor Cory Monteith, who died July 13 at the age of 31 from a “mixed drug toxicity” of heroin and alcohol.

In the upcoming season of GLEE there will be a plotline which will deal directly with the struggles of drug abuse, and the third episode of the season will write out the character of Finn.

Darren Criss talks on the death of Cory Monteith with Conan O’Brien

During a recent appearance, Conan O’Brien asked Criss how the cast of GLEE is handling the July 13 death of Monteith:

“We’re picking up the pieces now and there’s two things you got to remember about Cory: One, he was a really funny guy. He had a great sense of humor; he loved life. He always took care of his friends, he wanted his friends to be happy, so it’s only right that we try and start to smile again, try and laugh again. It’s something he would have wanted.”

GLEE delays production, season premiere

Due to Cory Monteith‘s recent tragic passing, GLEE has decided to delay production on season 5 to early August.

The show was originally scheduled to start production this week before news of the 31-year-old actor’s shocking death became widespread.

The new season of Glee will now premiere on Thursday, Sept. 26, instead of the original premiere date for September 19.

Coroner’s report shows Cory Monteith died of heroin and alcohol

Very sad news as the British Columbia Coroners Service has concluded that “Glee” star Cory Monteith died as a result of heroin and alcohol.

An autopsy and toxicological analysis, performed Monday, said “mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol” killed the 31 year-old actor.

Monteith was found at Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel on Saturday.

The investigation into his death is still ongoing but Canadian authorities call the incident a “most tragic accident.”

“Mr. Monteith’s family has been made aware of the circumstances surrounding the death,” the BC Coroners Service said in a statement. “On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.”

Monteith checked into the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel on July 6 and had been expected to check out on July 13 but never left his room. Hotel staff found the actor’s lifeless body shortly after noon on Saturday.

Monteith, born in Victoria, British Columbia, had a history of substance abuse, telling Parade magazine in 2011 that he began using drugs at 13 and by 19 was in rehab for using “anything and everything, as much as possible.”

GLEE announces five original cast members will not be returning

I know the show marches on, but it just won’t be the same this fall. News comes that five original cast members of GLEE will not be back as regulars when the show returns this fall:

Original castmembers Heather Morris (who plays Brittany), Mark Salling (Puck), Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike) will not be returning to the Fox musical dramedy as series regulars, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Additionally, Dianna Agron (Quinn) — who was only seen in a handful of episodes last season — is not slated to be back, save for a possible guest appearance here and there.

Morris, Salling, Riley and Shum may also return as occasional guest stars.

The casting moves hardly come as a surprise, considering four of the five characters graduated McKinley at the end of Season 3, and a fifth — Morris’ Brittany — got accepted to MIT in last month’s Season 4 finale.

I joke with people that I’m generally good for about two or three seasons of any show and then – unless it’s really rare – it all kind of gels into something average or something we’ve seen before and I lose interest. GLEE has hit that point for me.

I happen to catch a bit of the pilot a few weeks ago and was reminded how the show began with such specificity in style. And now it just seems like any high school dramedy. The new characters are not as compelling or interesting, and the older ones seem stuck in neutral.

Sigh…

The 5th season of GLEE begins on Thursday, Sept. 19.
