New Poll: Marco Rubio Trails Donald Trump By Double-Digits In His Homestate Of Florida

In the first new poll since former Gov. Jeb Bush dropped out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump has a big lead over Sen. Marco Rubio in the state of Florida.

It goes without saying that Rubio represents Florida in the U.S. Senate.

This is very bad news for Rubio.

The survey, by Quinnipiac University, shows Trump leading Rubio 44-28 percent less than three weeks before Florida’s March 15 primary. And voters — tens of thousands of them — are already casting ballots by mail, which leaves Rubio very little time to make up the deficit against the Republican front-runner.

“If Sen. Rubio can’t win in his own home state, it is difficult to see how he can win elsewhere,” said a statement from Peter A. Brown, the poll’s assistant director.

It’s worth noting that the Florida Republican primary is “winner take all.” So Rubio’s current trend of coming in second will do him no good in this scenario.

Contrast this news with the RealClearPolitics Texas GOP poll averages showing Sen. Ted Cruz leading in HIS home state of Texas over Donald Trump and Rubio by about 7%.

Donald Trump With “Gay” Voice

JoeMyGod points up this video of Donald Trump’s victory speech after the South Carolina primary.

Without changing any words, the voiceover has been changed to a stereotypical “gay” voice.

Does this constitute mocking Trump by “making him gay?” Or is it funny?

You’ll recall the 2015 documentary “Do I Sound Gay?” which addressed the idea of this dynamic.

Donald Trump To His Supporters: “I Love The Poorly Educated”

Speaking to his supporters after winning the Nevada Caucus, Donald Trump says he loves “the poorly educated.”

And the crowd roars!

By the way, Trump also crows about winning 44% of Nevada’s Latino vote. Not quite right.

Trump won 44% of Latino Republicans. In a recent poll, only 16% of Latino Nevadans identified as Republican. That means he was supported by about 7% of Latinos in Nevada (44% of 16 = 7.04).

Put another way: 93% of Latinos in Nevada did not vote for Trump.

Trump On Rally Protester: “I’d Like To Punch Him In The Face”

At a rally in Las Vegas last night, Republican front-runner Donald Trump told his supporters he’d like to punch protesters in the face. How very presidential.

“In the old days,” Trump said, protesters would be “carried out on stretchers.” “We’re not allowed to push back anymore.”

Trump also picked up on the ongoing vibe that Sen. Ted Cruz is “the biggest liar.”

Grab the popcorn, kids. It’s getting good.

Newt Gingrich: ‘Fox & Friends’ Invented The Donald Trump Candidacy

Appearing on “Fox & Friends” this morning, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was surprisingly candid with the hosts, saying that their show essentially “invented” Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy.

Via Talking Points Memo:

When host Brian Kilmeade asked Gingrich how Trump could be “running away with this thing,” the former Georgia congressman turned the blame back on the network.

“Look, that’s because of you guys,” Gingrich said. “Donald Trump gets up in the morning, tweets to the entire planet at no cost, picks up the phone, calls you, has a great conversation for about eight minutes, which would have cost him a ton in commercial money, and meanwhile his opponents are all out there trying to raise the money to run an ad. Nobody believes the ad.”

Kilmeade said Trump has made himself available to networks, unlike Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee. Host Steve Doocy added that Trump has “invented scenarios” to get “free media.”

Gingrich didn’t relent.

“Look, you could say that Trump is the candidate ‘Fox & Friends’ invented. He was on your show I think more than any other show,” he said. “It was always a happy, positive conversation.”

Pro-Cruz Robocall Paints Donald Trump As Pro-LGBT

A new robocall hitting South Carolina voters right before the state’s Republican primary attempts to portray Donald Trump into some kind of pro-LGBT politician, and smears LGBT rights along the way.

The ad takes uses part of an interview with NECN reporter Sue O’Connell, who asks if LGBTs would continue to see forward motion under a Trump presidency.

“I’m a lesbian,” O’Connell tells Trump. “We’ve had some great progress for the gay and lesbian community through politics, through all sorts of judicial actions and elected actions over the past 20 years. When President Trump is in office, can we look for more forward motion for equality for gays and lesbians?”

Trump responds, “Well, you can. And look, that’s your thing, and other people have their thing. We have to bring all people together.” At this point, the narrator’s voice, now taking on an incredulous tone, interjects: “Stop. What does she mean by ‘forward motion’? What’s he agreeing to?”

“It’s not about tolerance anymore,” the narrator continues. “It’s about mandatory celebration. It’s about forcing people to bake cakes and photograph gay weddings. Forcing clergy to officiate. It’s about transgender bathrooms in your child’s school. It’s about tearing down our Judeo-Christian values. It’s about tearing down our America.” The recording ends with an ominous sign-off from the narrator: “Ted Cruz for president — now, before it’s too late.”

Of course, no one has ever attempted to force clergy to officiate a same-sex wedding, nor has the LGBT movement attacked Christian values. And don’t get me started on the bakers and photographers who break state non-discrimination laws.

Here’s the robocall. Please note the very “Rush Limbaugh” type voice.

Donald Trump Responds To The Pope’s “No Christian” Comments

After Pope Francis commented at a press conference today that Donald Trump was “no Christian” due to his divisive rhetoric about building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, The Donald has responded.

At a press release, The Donald read his own statement that he posted on Facebook then went on a rant about the Pope and how uninformed the Pontiff may be.

Here’s the text of his statement aia Donald Trump’s Facebook, followed by his full comments at today’s press conference.

In response to the Pope:

If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS’s ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the Pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been President because this would not have happened. ISIS would have been eradicated unlike what is happening now with our all talk, no action politicians.

The Mexican government and its leadership has made many disparaging remarks about me to the Pope, because they want to continue to rip off the United States, both on trade and at the border, and they understand I am totally wise to them. The Pope only heard one side of the story – he didn’t see the crime, the drug trafficking and the negative economic impact the current policies have on the United States. He doesn’t see how Mexican leadership is outsmarting President Obama and our leadership in every aspect of negotiation.

For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful. I am proud to be a Christian and as President I will not allow Christianity to be consistently attacked and weakened, unlike what is happening now, with our current President. No leader, especially a religious leader, should have the right to question another man’s religion or faith. They are using the Pope as a pawn and they should be ashamed of themselves for doing so, especially when so many lives are involved and when illegal immigration is so rampant.

Pope Francis: Donald Trump Is Not A ‘Christian’

Image via CNN

During a press conference today, Pope Francis expressed in no uncertain terms that current the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump, is not a “Christian.”

From CNN:

“A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian. This is not in the gospel,” the Pope told journalists.

Asked if American Catholics should vote for Trump, Francis demurred.

“As far as what you said about whether I would advise to vote or not to vote, I am not going to get involved in that. I say only that this man is not Christian if he has said things like that.”

This is unprecedented in American politics that a sitting Pope would speak so critically of a current White House contender.

From what I understand, Trump is currently polling about 20 points ahead of the rest of the GOP pack in terms of evangelicals. Now, evangelicals aren’t Catholic, but many Christians across many denominations look to the Pope as the “voice” of Christianity. I’ll be curious to see if this impacts the numbers in the upcoming South Carolina primary on Saturday.

Watch The Donald’s Twitter feed for his next rant. How much can you go off on the Pope?
