Ted Cruz To Donald Trump On Threat Of Lawsuit: “Please Sue Me – I’ll Depose You Myself”

From Real Clear Politics:

Ted Cruz responds to a cease and desist letter from Donald Trump’s lawyer threatening to sue him for defamation and damages over an ad running in South Carolina. Trump claims the ad constituted defamation, but Cruz says “bring it on.”

“I have to say to Mr. Trump you have been threatening frivolous lawsuits for your entire adult life,” Cruz said at a press conference in South Carolina. “If you want to file a lawsuit challenging this ad claiming it is defamation… file the lawsuit.”

Donald Trump Hints (Again) At Third Party Run And Law Suit

In a dramatic press release and subsequent press conference today, GOP front-runner hinted at a possible 3rd party run due to his dissatisfaction with the way he feels the Republican National Committee has treated him.

Again.

The Trumpster also threatened to sue Sen. Ted Cruz over the issue of Cruz’s eligibility to be president unless Cruz apologized for what Trump considers several “lies” about his positions.

Via Raw Story:

Trump, who was booed at a debate on Saturday, complained that the audience was full of “lobbyists and donors” whom he accused of manipulating his rivals. “Those tickets were all special interest people. I know ’em,” he said.

“I signed a pledge but it’s a double-edge pledge, and as far as I’m concerned they’re in default of the pledge.”

A spokesperson for the Republican National Committee told the Guardian: “The language of the pledge is pretty straightforward.”

The pledge, he said, “simply states the candidates pledge to run as a Republican and support the nominee. Nothing more and nothing less.”

The men and women in the audience were largely at the candidates’ discretion, according to the RNC: “Each candidate received 100 tickets which is the largest amount so far. The candidates as a whole were the largest group of ticket holders.”

But Trump declared said “the pledge isn’t being honored by them”, without elaborating on what the Republican party’s obligations would be under the agreement. He said the debate was “a disgrace” and “the RNC does a terrible job”.

Trump went on to call current second-place GOP contender Ted Cruz a “basketcase,” “unhinged,” and “unstable.”

See the press release Trump issued prior to the press conference below:

Ted Cruz is a totally unstable individual. He is the single biggest liar I’ve ever come across, in politics or otherwise, and I have seen some of the best of them. His statements are totally untrue and completely outrageous. It is hard to believe a person who proclaims to be a Christian could be so dishonest and lie so much.

Cruz said I would be appointing a liberal judge when in fact I will appoint a great conservative and I am the only candidate who has gone so far, at the debate, as to suggest two individuals I feel would best represent the conservative values we need to protect: William “Bill” Pryor Jr. and Diane Sykes.

Cruz says I am pro-choice, when in fact I am staunchly pro-life and have been for a long time. Like Ronald Reagan, on many issues, I have evolved.

Cruz says I am in favor of ObamaCare, when in fact I have spoken about repealing and replacing this disaster of a system at every speech throughout my campaign and since it’s inception. Meanwhile, Cruz was responsible for getting Bush to put in the judge that failed to vote against ObamaCare twice.

Cruz says I will try to take away your second amendment rights, when I am one of the strongest proponents of the right to bear arms and I say so in every speech that I have made for years. I am a proud member of the NRA and so are my sons.

Cruz has become unhinged and is lying with the hopes that his statements will go unchecked until after the election and he will save his failing campaign.

In Iowa, Cruz told thousands of Ben Carson voters that Dr. Carson had left the race and to instead vote for Ted Cruz. He apologized when the race was over. Likewise, his fraudulent voter violation form sent to Iowa voters. If Ted is going to continue to lie with such desperation, I have no choice but to fight back.

One of the ways I can fight back is to bring a lawsuit against him relative to the fact that he was born in Canada and therefore cannot be President. If he doesn’t take down his false ads and retract his lies, I will do so immediately. Additionally, the RNC should intervene and if they don’t they are in default of their pledge to me.

I am the strongest on the borders and I will build a wall, and it will be a real wall. I am strongest on illegal immigration, strongest on ISIS, strongest on the military and I will take care of our Vets. I will end common core and preserve the second amendment. I will renegotiate our trade deals and bring our jobs back to our country. I am the only person who will Make America Great Again.

NOM Attacks Donald Trump For Not Being Anti-Gay Enough

The folks over at the National Organization for Marriage have the odd idea that they are relevant in some way today.

They’ve launched a new attack ad, titled “Dump Trump,” directed at GOP front-runner Donald Trump that basically says the Trumpster doesn’t hate on gays enough.

In an email (that includes at least NINE requests for donations), NOM president Brian Brown writes:

As the ad makes clear, when Donald Trump quit on the fight for marriage, he quit on South Carolina and over 50 million voters across the nation who cast ballots defining marriage as one man and one woman. The ad urges South Carolinians to “Dump Trump.”

Keep in mind that the marriage amendment passed in South Carolina with 78% of the overall vote. However, it likely got upwards of 90% of the vote among Republicans who will be voting for president on February 20th. Clearly, the ad could cause some serious damage to the Trump campaign and thus help propel forward other pro-marriage candidates like Sen. Ted Cruz.

Donald Trump And Univision Kiss And Make Up Over Miss USA Pageant

Republican front runner Donald Trump and Spanish language network Univision have come to a meeting of the minds regarding ongoing litigation between the two over the network’s move to not air the pageant last year.

Univision made it’s decision after Trump called hispanics “drug addicts” and “rapists” during his campaign launch.

From Talking Points Memo:

Trump had sued the broadcaster for $500 million after it severed ties with the businessman and refused to broadcast the pageant. The terms of the settlement were confidential, according to a news release.

“I have known Univision’s President and CEO, Randy Falco, for more than 20 years and I’m glad we are able to put these differences behind us,” Trump said in a statement.

Falco had a similar response.

“I have known Donald Trump for many years in both a personal and professional capacity and we are pleased to settle this matter and move forward,” he said in a statement.

Parody: Funny Or Die’s Take On “Donald Trump’s THE ART OF THE DEAL: The Movie”

Funny Or Die has produced a full-on parody movie of Donald Trump’s book, The Art of the Deal starring Johnny Depp as the Trumpster.

Via press release:

In 1988 Donald Trump wrote, directed, and starred in a made-for-TV movie based on his bestselling book ‘The Art of the Deal.’ When the film was bumped because Monday Night Football ran long, the furious Trump pulled the movie, obscuring it from the general public for decades. Now Funny Or Die has unearthed this delightfully dated masterpiece for the world to see.

The movie stars Johnny Depp as Donald Trump, Patton Oswalt as Merv Griffin, Henry Winkler as Mayor Ed Koch, Michaela Watkins as Ivana Trump, and also features Alfred Molina, Andy Richter, Jack McBrayer, Robert Morse, Jacob Tremblay, Ron Funches, Stephen Merchant, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Jason Mantzoukas, Kristen Schaal, and ALF. Kenny Loggins, ’80s soundtrack virtuoso, performs the film’s original theme song. The movie was directed by Jeremy Konner (Drunk History) and written by Joe Randazzo (The Onion, @midnight), with an intro from Ron Howard.

Donald Trump As “The GOPfather – The Candidate Nobody Can Refuse”

The Democratic Rapid Response team was ready for Donald Trump’s big night last night in New Hampshire with this clip which depicts Donald Trump as THE GODFATHER’s “Vito Corleone” – “the candidate nobody can refuse” who will “do anything to win” and to whom “all must pay their respects.”

New York Daily News Calls Trump Win In New Hampshire “Dawn Of The Brain Dead”

From the New York Daily News:

Clueless New Hampshire voters handed billionaire bore Donald Trump a “yuge” victory in the first-in-the nation primary Tuesday, providing the mad mogul with a new round of ammo a week after a disappointing second-place finish in Iowa.

More than three in 10 Granite State voters flocked to the foul-mouthed contender, throwing their support to him at levels beyond what the polls had predicted — a day after he referred to a Republican challenger Ted Cruz as a “pussy.”

Coming in second place in the primary was Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who was declared the official silver-medalist with about 16% of the vote.

Trailing Kasich was a pack of establishment candidates including Texas Sen. Cruz, with 11.6%, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, with 11% and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, with 10.5%.

Chris Christie, who had campaigned heavily in New Hampshire, got only 7.5% support, returns showed, prompting the outspoken governor to say that he would “go home to New Jersey” on Wednesday to “take a deep breath,” leading many to believe he was on the verge of dropping out of the race.
