Donald Trump Postpones VP Announcement

I hate to be cynical.

But.

While I would like to believe Donald Trump has postponed his announcement concerning his selection of a running mate for the White House out of respect for the victims of the tragic attack in Nice, France, I’m certain his postponement included concern that he didn’t want his first-ever decision as a presidential candidate overshadowed by other news stories.

At the end of the day, his biggest talent is that of showmanship. And he doesn’t like sharing the spotlight with others.

According to sources, Trump has officially offered the spot to Pence, and Pence has accepted.

Pence faces a noon deadline on Friday to formally withdraw from the governor’s race in Indiana, where he has been facing a steep climb for reelection.

Gov. Chris Christie Doesn’t Like “Coming In Second. Ever.”

“Hahahaha, that’s so funny. Tell me another one, sir.”

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is ok letting folks know he really, really did want to be Donald Trump’s VP pick.  Even if he’s not.

From Politico:

“Listen, no matter what phone call he makes to me today, I will take a deep breath and prepare for tomorrow,” Christie told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace in an interview from Mendham, New Jersey.

“I’m a competitive person, so I’m not gonna say it won’t bother me if I’m not selected,” Christie continued.

“Of course it bothers you a little bit, because if you’re a competitive person like I am and you’re used to winning like I am, again, you don’t like coming in second. Ever.”

Ann Coulter On Mike Pence Veep Pick: “Pence Is The Combo-Platter Of Disaster”

Ann Coulter has heard the rumors that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence will soon be Donald Trump’s pick for running mate, and she’s going apoplectic over the idea.

From her Facebook page:

Report: Trump about to make first mistake in VP pick, as predicted by Ann Coulter, July 6, 2016

MY VP PREDICTION: TRUMP’S FIRST MISTAKE

I won’t believe it, until I hear it from the Trump’s mouth.

Pence is the combo-platter of disaster. He’s all in for corporate America bringing in as many guest workers as they please to replace American workers, tried to sell the monster amnesty as a “compromise bill.” (How about this compromise: We start with a wall…)

He also somehow managed to tick off both sides in gay marriage debate. After his state passed a law passed protecting Christians from having to participate in gay marriages, all hell broke loose. Pence thought to himself: ‘I have semi heading for me. Should I just stand here? Yes, I think I’ll just stand here!’ First, he allowed himself to be portrayed as a right-wing homophobic nut and then — just days later — he sold out to the left-wing activists, anyway.

Campaign Ad: “Role Models”

Highlighting the sharp, heated rhetoric of the Donald Trump campaign, Hillary Clinton releases this new spot contrasting the images and language of the two presidential campaigns.

As Stephen Sondheim once wrote, “Careful the things you say, children will listen.”

Via the Washington Post:

The sharply negative spot comes a day before Trump is expected to announce his vice-presidential running mate and several days before the Republican Party’s convention.

In it, video of Trump plays in the background as children watch. Entitled “Role Models,” it contrasts Trump — using profanity, mocking a disabled reporter, apparently alluding to a female reporter’s menstrual cycle — with Clinton, who appears at the end of the ad.

“I love the old days, you know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out on a stretcher, folks,” Trump says in one clip. “And you can tell them to go f*** themselves,” he says in another.

Donald Trump Veepstakes – Pence Or Gingrich?

Word is we should have the news of who the great Cheeto, Donald Trump, will choose to be his running mate by Friday.

Yesterday, folks seemed pretty sure Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has a lock on the nod.

But given the news that Fox News has suspended Newt Gingrich as a political contributor for the time being given his veep consideration AND he is apparently in Indiana today (and Fox News host Sean Hannity flew Gingrich out there), you have to wonder if that points to the Newtster.

Thoughts?

Donald Trump Calls For SCOTUS Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s Resignation Over Critical Comments

Presumptive Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump is not having Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s opinions on his candidacy.

Speaking to the New York Times this past Sunday, Ginsberg shared, “I can’t imagine what this place would be — I can’t imagine what the country would be — with Donald Trump as our president. For the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be — I don’t even want to contemplate that.”

She went on to joke that she might have to move to New Zealand were Trump to ascend to the presidency.

Trump responded in classic fashion calling not only for an apology, but her resignation from the high court.

“I think it’s a disgrace to the court and I think she should apologize to the court. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it.,” said Trump.

Calling the comments “highly inappropriate,” The Donald boasted the comments only energize his base.

Donald Trump On Running Mate: I Want An Attack Dog

Donald Trump told reporters today, in what may be a hint as to his choice of running mate, that he wants an attack dog to join him on the GOP ticket.

Mr. Trump, in a telephone interview Tuesday, said his top picks include Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and a couple politicians who haven’t gotten as much attention, including Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions.

The New York businessman has said he wanted a seasoned government leader as a running mate. But in the interview, on the way to events with Mr. Pence in Indiana, Mr. Trump added a new criterion: He wants an attack dog.

“I’m getting attacked from all sides,” he said.

That plays to the strengths of Messrs. Christie and Gingrich, feisty and combative politicians that Mr. Trump called “two extraordinary warriors.” Saying that personal chemistry is also important, Mr. Trump said, “You either have it or you don’t. I clearly have it with Chris and Newt.”

Having someone to play the classic “attack dog” role would possibly give Trump the chance to perhaps lay back a bit and appear more “presidential” on the campaign trail.

Or, maybe, that’s just creative thinking that Trump would relinquish his role of “attacker in chief” on the campaign trail.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg Says Trump Is “A Faker”

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg doubled down on her criticism of GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump in an interview with CNN.

The 22 year SCOTUS veteran didn’t hold back as she referred to the Trumpster as “a faker.”

From Huffington Post:

“He has no consistency about him,” Ginsburg said during a talk with veteran Supreme Court reporter Joan Biskupic. “He says whatever comes into his head at the moment. He really has an ego.”

Trump himself jumped into the controversy on Tuesday, calling Ginsburg’s remarks in the thick of a presidential election “highly inappropriate” for a sitting Supreme Court justice.

“I think it’s a disgrace to the court and I think she should apologize to the court, Trump said, according to The New York Times. “I couldn’t believe it when I saw it.”

What If The Donald Trump Campaign Was A Big Joke?

I’ve actually contemplated – seriously contemplated – that the Donald Trump campaign is a big “punk” on the American people.

Just when it looks like the Trumpster couldn’t get more outrageous, he does. And it lands.

Cracked.com has made that scenario come to life in this short 8 minute film.

It’s going to be so funny. It’s going to be so funny.

It makes me believe even moreso that the “punking” of America could be true.

If not, the short film is still pretty funny.

In a very, very, very dark way.
