Devastating Spec Ad For Johnnie Walker By Two German Students
I won’t ruin it for you.
All you need to know upfront is this is a spec ad done by two German film students – Daniel Titz and Dorian Lebherz – for Johnnie Walker titled “Dear Brother.”
The ad seems to follow two brothers on both a spiritual and physical journey to the most important places of their youth.
Once you get to the end, go back and watch again. I didn’t see the ending coming, but once I did, I went back to put it together.
Then, go read this interview by AdWeek with the two filmmakers.
Nordstrom Department Store Celebrates With Real-Life Gay Couple And Pooch
Just another holiday homecoming is what we get in the new ad spot from Nordstrom, which features a handsome gent being welcomed home by his husband and four-legged family member.
“Home is the heart of the holiday season.”
I understand the two men are a real-life couple engaged to be married, so kudos to Nordstrom for sharing some reality with us.
It comes as no surprise that Nordstrom has a 100% rating in the Human Rights Campaign Buyers Guide.
It’s also my husband’s favorite department store. See? He has good taste 🙂
Allstate Insurance Features Gay Dads And Their Adorable Baby Girl In New Ad
Famous Footwear Features Gay Dads At Dinner Time In New Commercial
A new ad from Famous Footwear features two gay dads and their children sharing dinner time without electronics at the table.
One dad passes around a basket collecting everyone’s phones, although the daughter does try to hand on to her tablet.
The message being that for the family to reconnect, we need to disconnect every now and then.
I agree.
Nice that the dads are easy on the eyes, too. Just saying…
Viral Video: Touching Ad For Spanish National Lottery
The Irish Times sets up what is undoubtedly one of the most charming ads of the year.
The advert shows a lonely night-time security guard getting up every night at 10pm for his shift at a factory which makes mannequins.
He decides to set up some of the figures in funny poses for when the morning shift staff come on duty.
In a heartwarming twist the advert ends with a lottery win for the factory staff – the ad is for the Spanish lottery– and a surprise for the solitary watchman.
And the good news is you don’t need to understand Spanish to understand, and appreciate, the video!
“Moschino Barbie” Commercial Breaks Gender Stereotypes
The new Moschino Barbie is a huge hit (currently sold-out!), and its commercial is breaking boundaries by featuring a young boy in it.
“Moschino Barbie is so fierce!” the boy screams as he and two female friends laud the doll, done up in designer Jeremy Scott’s sleek glamour. Barbie’s cellphone goes off and the male child says, “It’s for you, Moschino Barbie,” before winking at the camera. Watch the ad below.
Viral Video: 2015 Sainsbury’s Christmas Advertisement
The UK has a tradition of creative, extended holiday advertisements, like this one from British grocery store chain, Sainsbury’s. This one has over 8 million few in just a few days.
From the clip description:
Presenting the new Sainsbury’s Christmas Advert. Mog sets off a chain of unfortunate events which almost ruin Christmas for the Thomas family. Can she pull it all back to save the day?
This year, we worked in partnership with HarperCollins Children’s Books and world renowned author and illustrator Judith Kerr to create a Christmas story based on her much loved character Mog. We hope that families will come together this Christmas to enjoy this very special story #ChristmasIsForSharing
If you enjoyed the story, you can buy the beautifully illustrated book here. Every penny of the profit from sales of the book will be donated to Save the Children to be used towards improving child literacy in the UK.
As JoeMyGod points out, though, not everyone is thrilled with the ad.
London Fire Brigade weren’t too impressed with the video however, which shows the Christmas lights left on overnight and no smoke detectors in the house. They issued a warning yesterday which said: “The advert centres around a family fast asleep while a cute cat called Mog inadvertently starts two fires and luckily dials 999. “Sadly not everyone will have a ‘super cat’ like Mog and fire chiefs want everyone to make sure they have working alarms in their homes.” It continues: “We’re also concerned that the family had left their Christmas lights overnight – something the Brigade asks people to never do.
John Lewis Department Store’s 2015 Holiday Ad
UK department store John Lewis has just released their always anticipated holiday ad.
This year’s edition, “Man On The Moon,” depicts a little girl who discovers via her telescope a lonely old man living alone on the moon.
You can view last year’s version (much more touching and magical, in my opinion) here.
Viral Video: Bryan Wilson – The Texas Law Hawk
I will admit up front that I’m originally from Fort Worth, Texas, where it would seem Bryan Wilson – the Texas Law Hawk – has his law firm and runs his outrageous TV ads.
His commercials are somewhere between “Reno 911” and every Steven Segal movie ever made. They’re so awesomely bad, we thought they were too good to be true – but Wilson is, in fact, a real lawyer.
“Loud and proud” of his Texas roots, Wilson’s extensive use of American flags and screeching hawks could make Stephen Colbert cry tears of joy.
Wilson does wheelies on a minibike, snatches a fish out of a stream, kicks down a door and even jumps out of a moving SUV in an amazing new series of ads.
Wilson was recently featured on Fox News, of course.
What you about to see is real. Uploaded to YouTube only five days ago, the clip has over a million views already.
