Family Research Council busted using faked image for anti-gay propaganda

Just another day in the lying land of the Family Research Council.

The image above was used in FRC’s recent propaganda to show several concerned people at a “Boy Scouts Policy Meeting.”  See the placard on the left side of the picture saying “2013 Policy Meeting?”  See the Boy Scouts emblem near the center of the image?  Jeremy Hooper from Good As You found just one, little problem:

It’s a complete fabrication. FRC simply Photoshopped a Boy Scout logo and a “2013 Policy Meeting” placard onto an existing picture that they lifted from another site. The picture in question is actually from the website LegalGeekery.com and is described as being from the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

The LegalGeekery post is from 2009. See the original image below BEFORE Family Research Council performed their bigotry magic on it:

So, here’s the thing, kids: if you have swallowed any of the FRC’s sad diatribe against the LGBT community up to now, think about who you follow. Because for all you know, they are as fake as the image at the top of this post.

Tony Perkins: Boston bombing was practically (almost) gay marriage’s fault

“If Congress wants to stop these tragedies, then it has to address the government’s own hostility to the institution of the family and organizations that can address the real problem: the human heart. As I’ve said before, America doesn’t need gun control, it needs self-control. And a Congress that actively discourages it through abortion, family breakdown, sexual liberalism, or religious hostility is only compounding the problem.” – Hate group leader Tony Perkins

I don’t know how much closer Perkins could get to blaming the Boston bombing on marriage equality, but I do know I’m getting less and less patient with his icky, ugly campaign against the LGBT community.  The nerve of him to invoke the phrase “the human heart” when he himself spends every waking minute making life miserable for so many is appalling.

He loves to double-back and say “I don’t hate gays” but seriously folks, how long can you live every day dogging a whole community of people?

The act’s worn thin….

Brickstone takes on the Westboro Baptist Church

Brickstone catches up to the Westboro Baptist Church in Malibu (nice place for a picket!) and asks the members of the anti-gay group questions many of us have wondered:

“Have you ever wondered how good gay sex must be if they’re willing to go to hell for it?”

“Can a person go to heaven if he has homosexual urges but refuses to act on them, and he’s so upset about the openly gay people that he makes his whole family have signs that say ‘God hates fags’?

“Would you glass bottom boat Pat Robertson?”

“Didn’t I jerk you off in a Kmart bathroom once?”

“Why did the Newtown kids go to hell but not aborted fetuses?”

“Didn’t the hot members of your church leave because their brothers were kind of screwing with them?”

I didn’t find the answers terribly revealing, but it was fun to watch.

Assholes.

Florida high school football coach suspended for anti-gay slurs

Bob Grisham, the Lauderdale County High School football coach and psychology teacher recorded by a student last week as he spewed anti-gay slurs, has been suspended, WAFF reports.

The investigation included a 1-minute, 24-second audiotape reportedly recorded by a student Monday and took place on school campus during the school day. On the recording, Grisham is clearly heard asking who knows who is behind the 600-calorie school lunch. “Fat butt Michelle Obama,” he said. “Look at her. She looks like she weighs 185 or 190. She’s overweight.”

Male voices interject comments during the discussion, at one point referring to Michelle Obama as a “fat gorilla.”

Later in the tape, Grisham referred to the U.S. as going in the “wrong direction” and tells the students they can “get pissed off at me or not. You can go tell the principal, call the superintendent and tell her. I don’t believe in queers. I don’t like queers, I don’t hate them as a person, but what they do is wrong and an abomination against God.”

Grisham, who said he “misspoke” and did not have hatred toward anyone, was suspended without pay following a 4 pm meeting by the school board today.

I don’t know the man, I don’t know his history.  But I do know that, at this point, he will be remembered for many years to come as “that guy who taught his students that he didn’t like queers.”

Yep – sounds like he has no “hatred” towards anyone…

Arkansas: GOP lawmaker defending slavery

“If slavery were so God-awful, why didn’t Jesus or Paul condemn it, why was it in the Constitution and why wasn’t there a war before 1861?”

“The South has always stood by the Constitution and limited government. When one attacks the Confederate Battle Flag, he is certainly denouncing these principles of government as well as Christianity.” – GOP Arkansas state Rep. Roy Mauch, in a letter to a local newspaper.

Do I even have to add – “SRSLY?”
