Pat Robertson: God Will Wreck U.S. Financial Markets Over Marriage Equality

I can’t believe I’m quoting former Vice President Dan Quayle, but as he once misquoted the slogan of the United Negro College Fund: “It’s a terrible thing to lose your mind.”

That would seem to be appropriate here after watching Pat Robertson blather on about God’s wrath against financial entities over same-sex marriage today.

The 700 Club’s resident bigot flipped out saying that the United States is becoming Sodom. robertson predicted God will cause financial ruin in America over marriage equality and equal rights for transgender folks.

Via Right Wing Watch:

“Now it’s a constitutional right for sodomites to marry each other,” he lamented, warning that “the wrath of God is revealed against this stuff.” He explained: “I don’t want the wrath of God to hit this country, it’s a great country, I’d like to see America continue strong, but this is one way of weakening it. First of all, we’re going to have this financial collapse. We’re setting up for a massive financial collapse and I think if God is going to hurt this country that’s probably the way he’d do it.”

Can you believe this man was once considered to be a “moral leader?”

Parody: “The Homophobe Tango”

Lauren Mayer, aka PsychoSuperMom, brings us her version of “The Cellblock Tango” from CHICAGO – “The Homophobe Tango” wherein she skewers the current crop of big time bigots, including Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis.

According to Mayer, she’s “a good Jewish mother who secretly yearns for a gay son, so he’ll never leave me for another woman, (cue rimshot).”

Anti-Gay Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis Loses At 6th Circuit Court Of Appeals

Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis (R)

Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis lost today at the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in her request for a stay regarding a lower court’s ruling which compels her to issue marriage licenses to her constituents.

The lower court issued a temporary stay on it’s ruling to give Davis time to request the stay at the Sixth. That temporary ruling is set to expire on August 31st.

There is virtually no chance that SCOTUS will even take the request, let alone grant it.

See the full ruling here.

“The injunction operates not against Davis personally, but against the holder of her office of Rowan County Clerk.

“In light of the binding holding of Obergefell, it cannot be defensibly argued that the holder of the Rowan County Clerk’s office, apart from who personally occupies that office, may decline to act in conformity with the United States Constitution as interpreted by a dispositive holding of the United States Supreme Court.

“There is thus little or no likelihood that the Clerk in her official capacity will prevail on appeal.”

The day after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, Davis stopped issuing marriage licenses in her county. No one, straight or gay, can obtain a marriage license in her county today.

Davis refuses to issue marriage licenses to gay or lesbian couples based on her ‘deeply held religious beliefs.’

It should be noted that her ‘religious beliefs’ don’t seem to affect her ability to marry and divorce. Davis is currently on her 4th marriage.

Yeah, she’s really worried about the “sanctity of marriage.”

Photographer Has Best Response After Losing Anti-Gay Wedding Client

Clinton Brentwood Lee has been shooting weddings for 15 years as a professional photographer.

But when he changed his Facebook profile to a rainbow to celebrate the SCOTUS ruling on same-sex marriage, a client informed him they would cancel their contract with him.

The photographer’s response is perfect:

Arizona Pastor Says It’s Ok To Pray for “Some” Folks To Die

Ah, Pastor Stephen Anderson of Arizona’s Faithful Word Baptist Church. You make every well-meaning pastor’s job so, so, so much harder.

You’ll recall he once said America could have an “AIDS-free” Christmas if the country would just kills all the gays…?

My best friend is an Episcopal priest. I’m sure she would NOT endorse this kind of preaching.

Anderson went off again half-cocked recently and lost his mind over Caitlyn Jenner’s coverage in the media.

He starts out saying it’s TOTALLY cool to pray for folks you don’t like to die. Just so you know.

Then, at the 1:15 mark he starts talking about Caityn Jenner (referring to her as “filthy sodomite” and “filthy pervert” and “trans-freak”) who he claims he had never heard of before.

There’s this bon mot: “I’m gonna pray that he dies and goes to hell.”

At the 3:10 mark: “I hate him with a perfect hatred. I have NO love for this ‘Bruce’ freak.”

By the way, Caitlyn, this guy is probably part of YOUR Republican party. Just saying…

Michigan Auto Repair Shop Owner: My Business And My Home Will Be Protected From “Evil”

Brian Klawiter, the Michigan auto repair shop owner who said he would turn away gays who brought their cars to him, has doubled down with even more heated rhetoric.

This time he says he won’t serve gays because he’s defending his environment against “evil:”

“The environments that I have control over (where I am responsible for what occurs) including my business and my home will be protected from evil to the best of my ability.”

(via Facebook)

Apparenlty, Klawiter thinks the gays biggest problem is fighting for the right to be naked at a gay pride parade?

The Inevitable Crowd-Sourcing Fund For Anti-Gay Florist Is Here

Right on cue, a crowd-sourcing fund has been set up to “help” Barronelle Stutzman, the anti-gay marriage florist from Washington state who was found guilty of violation public accommodation laws for discriminating against a gay couple.

The goal seems to be $100,000 – to pay a $2,000 fine…

Gee, I wonder what the other $98,000 is for?

A Guy Being A “Jack” Ass In Colorado About A Cake

A guy named Bill Jack walks into a bakery…

Walking into a bakery and requesting a cake be made to say “God hates fags” so you can attempt to make some point about “religious freedom” just makes you an asshole.

Bill Jack says he was discriminated against based on his creed. “Creed” is defined as “a formal statement of religious belief.”

In no account of this story ANYWHERE has it been reported that the baker refused on religious grounds. She admits she refused to write discriminatory hate speech.

She offered to make the cake and provide the asshole with icing so he could write his own bigoted statements. You can’t force someone to write (or say) what you want them to say if they don’t believe it themselves. This violates folks freedom of speech.

It’s also of interest that Jack specifically would not allow the paper with his desired hate speech to leave his hands. Hmm – worried about evidence landing somewhere, Mr. Jack?

Where this differs greatly from the anti-gay bakers in Colorado last year is two issues:

1. That baker specifically said he wouldn’t make a wedding cake for a gay couple’s wedding because it was a gay wedding. Because “gay.” Colorado outlaws discrimination based on sexual orientation. And the baker pointedly said that was what his decision was based on.

2. No one asked the baker last year to write anything specifically “pro” or “anti” anything on a wedding cake. As a matter of fact, it’s never been reported if ANY writing was requested. All that was ordered was “a wedding cake.” The baker was not being required to write anything specific to pro-gay messaging.

Watch the report below on Mr. Bill Jack’s attempt to incite “something.”
