Mississippi: Bigots Now Turning Away ‘Mixed-Race’ Marriages

Well, gee, no one saw this coming, did they?

Now bigots in Mississippi feel empowered to turn away ‘mixed-race’ weddings.

LaKambria Welch was doing research for her brother, who is black, and his fiancée, who is white, looking for locations to host their upcoming wedding.

But after reaching out to Boone’s Camp Event Hall in Booneville, Miss., the couple was turned away based on the owner’s personal religious beliefs.

After being turned away, Welch visited the property to get clarity on the refusal. She filmed her conversation with the employee she spoke with.

The video, no surprise, quickly went viral.

“We don’t do gay weddings or mixed race, because of our Christian race,” said the employee.

Probably realizing she had shown her self by saying ‘Christian race’ – there’s no such thing – she quickly amended her statement saying, “I mean our Christian belief.”

Uh-huh.

Folks, when people reveal themselves to you, believe them the first time.

When Ms. Welch explained that she, too, is Christian but asked where in the Bible it’s taught that mixed-race marriages were forbidden, the employee replied, “I don’t want to argue my faith, we just don’t participate.”

Shaken by the episode, Welch told the media, “It really broke my heart to actually hear her say those things.”

According to reports, after the video launched hundreds of outraged social media posts, the owner of the event hall, Donna Russell, clearly sensing a lawsuit of epic size (federal law prohibits race-based discrimination in public accommodation), privately apologized to Welch and her family.

The owners said in a statement that they had previously been taught (by who?) to believe that “interracial marriage was against the teachings of the Bible.” The owners say they consulted with their pastor and realized they were ‘wrong.’

More from the Washington Post:

In her apology, the event hall’s owner attempted to explain why she believed the Bible supported her views on interracial marriages, describing how she only recently discovered that wasn’t the case. She began by writing that as “a child growing up in Mississippi” it was an unspoken understanding that people stayed “with your own race.”

But then on Saturday, when her husband asked her to point to relevant sections of the Bible, she couldn’t. After spending hours scouring the text and sitting down with her pastor, the owner wrote that she finally concluded that the reasoning behind her decision to turn away Welch’s brother and his fiancee was “incorrect.”

“Boone’s Camp is sorry for the pain and inconvenience they have caused this couple and have invited them to use the facility,” the statement said.

The United States Supreme Court overturned bans against interracial marriage in Loving v. Virginia in 1967.

In 2016, Mississippi passed a law that affords special protections to opponents of same-sex marriage, which the Supreme Court had ruled was a constitutional right the previous year.

The law protects individuals and organizations who claim they act in accordance with their “sincerely held religious beliefs or moral convictions” from potential government actions. The law allows them sway in turning away possible customers in regards to hiring, real estate, wedding services, and foster care.

The 2016 law clearly does not mention race.

The venue owners did not mention any change of position on same-sex marriages.

Folks, first it’s the gays, now ‘mixed race’ marriages. Don’t think you’re not next. All they have to do is find you to be ‘different.’

Tennessee: Detective Calls On Police To Arrest & Kill “LGBT Freaks”

A Sheriff’s Office detective who is also a pastor at the All Scripture Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, has drawn heavy criticism for a sermon he gave on June 2 where he called on police to “enforce a bible passage” that calls for killing LGBTQ people.

During a sermon titled, “Sodomite Reprobates,” Grayson Fritts said “The purpose of this sermon is, our government, like the police, should enforce Leviticus 20:13,” reports local CBS News affiliate WVLT.

In the King James Bible, Leviticus 20:13 reads, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”

Fritts said that “God has instilled the power of civil government to send the police in 2019 out to the LGBT FREAKS and arrest them.”

The detective said “riot teams” should round up gays at Pride events, take them to jail and put them on trial.

“We got a bunch of them we’re gonna get convicted because they’ve got their pride junk on and they’re professing what they are, they’re a filthy animal,” said Fritts.

If convicted, Fritts’ prescription is to put the LGBTQs to death.

On Wednesday evening, WVLT reporter Robert Grant attended a service where Fritts delivered another sermon at his church. According to Grant, Fritts concluded his sermon with the message, “Put homos to death.”

WVLT news anchor Amanda Hara posted on her Facebook page a photo of a message left after Fritts’s sermon that read, “Dear Pastor Fritts, I don’t know what happened to you, but I am so sorry. Love, Thy Neighbor.”

Interestingly, the Sheriff’s office reports the detective put in a request to take part in the Knox County Voluntary Workforce Reduction Buy Out program days being delivering the controversial sermon.

Timing is everything, no?

Sheriff Tom Spangler issued a statement saying Fritts is “currently on paid sick leave until the effective date of the workforce reduction which will be July 19, 2019.”

“I want to be very clear that it is my responsibility to ensure equal protection to ALL citizens of Knox County, Tennessee under the law, my oath and the United States Constitution without discrimination or hesitation,” Spangler added. “Rest assured that I have and will continue to do so.”

Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs told reporters he found Fritts’s remarks to be “extremely vile and reprehensible” and condemned the calls for violence.

WVLT reports the Knox County District Attorney’s office is now investigating the matter, as well as past closed cases handled by Fritts where his anti-gay bias may have played a role in his investigations.

UK Radio Host James O’Brien Decimates Anti-LGBT Caller With One Question

Radio host James O’Brien

Discussing homosexuality and religion on his LBC radio show in the UK, host James O’Brien shut down a “Christian” caller named Daniel with just one question.

“What did Jesus say in the Bible about homosexuality?”

From Attitude:

Scrabbling for an answer, Daniel begins: “Well, in 1 Corinthians…”

But O’Brien cuts in to point out that the First Corinthians is “a letter written by someone who never met Jesus.”

He adds: “1 Corinthians is a letter that St Paul wrote. What did Jesus say, on the record, in the Bible about homosexuality?”

As Daniel struggles to answer, O’Brien keeps on coming.

“It’s a simple question. What did he say? You can say nothing, because that’s the true answer, or you can carry on blustering,” he says.

In all, O’Brien asks Daniel what Jesus said about homosexuality an incredible 27 times.

He tells the befuddled caller: “Listen, you have a great day. May God go with you. You can’t answer the question about Jesus… which is kind of the point. Which leads me to conclude what you’re really terrified of Daniel is something that’s going on inside of you.”

Donald Trump Botches Bible Reference At Liberty University

Donald Trump bungles Bible verse giving convocation at Liberty University

But remember y’all – Donald Trump is a BIG fan of the Bible.

Donald Trump gave the convocation at Liberty University — a Christian school in Virginia — on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. day.

And he decided to throw in some scripture.

“Two Corinthians, right?” he announced. “Two Corinthians 3:17. That’s the whole ballgame.”

The Donald seemed to be referencing the second letter to the Corinthians, or “Second Corinthians.”

Not “Two Corinthians.” No one says “Two Corinthians.”

Clearly Trump was attempting to curry favor with the verse which reads, “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

Other GOP campaigns and the Twitterverse were thrilled to jump on the bungle:

Director of Faith Outreach for Marco Rubio:

Rapid Response Director for Ted Cruz:

And just a reminder of when Trump was asked his favorite Bible verse…

Folks Are Surprised Thinking They Are Reading The Quran But Find Out It’s The Bible

So, to get a read on what people think about Muslims and their beliefs, these two guys highlighted passages in a Bible and then covered the book with the dust jacket of a Quran.

Taking to the streets, they read the passages to get a reaction from random folks. Needless to say, the people were horrified by what they heard and read. They immediately denounced the religion – assuming it was coming from Muslims and their faith.

They were quite surprised to find out all of the passages were from the Holy Bible.

Demonstrates a bit of how folks become followers and parrot what they are told to believe today, no?

Watch the clip below and feel free to leave a comment.

Sarah Palin: Asking Donald Trump’s “Favorite Bible Verse” Is A Gotcha Question

Sarah Palin

For several days now, GOP White House hopeful Donald Trump has been freely stating in his campaign appearances that the Bible is his favorite book.

When asked this week if he could share a favorite Bible verse, he was kind of stumped saying it was “too personal” to share.  (The impression to many, after that response, was that perhaps Trump wasn’t all THAT familiar with the Bible).

Personally, I think if you’re bringing up the Bible and how much you like it, referencing one inspirational verse isn’t too personal. Especially when Trump is the one bringing up the Bible.

Well, former half-term governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin (who has been clearly campaigning for the running mate spot on a Trump ticket) came to The Donald’s defense on her Facebook page:

WTH, LAMESTREAM MEDIA! STAY OUT OF MY BIBLE. WTH? Lamestream media asks GOP personal, spiritual “gotchas” that they’d NEVER ask Hillary, or they’d feed the question to her and/or liberal cohorts before they asked it on-air (we know how these things work, lapdog media… the public’s on to you), so good on Trump for screwing with the reporter. By the way, even with my reading scripture everyday I wouldn’t want to answer the guy’s question either… it’s none of his business; it IS personal; what the heck does it have to do with serving as commander-in-chief; and these reporters trying to trip up conservatives can go pound sand until they ask the same things of their favored liberal pals. I’ll cover this in my interview with Donald Trump and other candidates tonight on the One America News Network show “On Point.” The more the media does this, the more they empower America to reject them and their bias as voters run to the anti-status quo candidates daring to Go Rogue.

Palin famously could not name one publication – newspaper, magazine, website – she regularly read when asked by Katie Couric in 2008 when Palin was the GOP vice-presidential nominee.

Palin considered that a “gotcha” question.
