Gay Couple Brutally Attacked In NYC BBQ Restaurant

A gay couple dining at a NYC BBQ restaurant in Chelsea was violently attacked by two men over a spilled drink.

DNAinfo has the details:

A gay couple was bashed over the head with a wooden chair, knocked to the ground and kicked by two men hurling anti-gay slurs at the Chelsea Dallas BBQ Tuesday night, in an attack captured on a graphic video, according to police and the victims. “These guys attacked us specifically because they knew we weren’t their type of people,” said Jonathan Snipes, 32, who had a tooth knocked loose and cartilage snapped in his ear during the beating.

“It was disgusting. It was awful,” Snipes, who was attacked alongside his boyfriend Ethan York-Adams, 25, told DNAinfo New York. In one video, York-Adams, 25, tries to shield Snipes by throwing his arm around his shoulder just before a man rushes up to them with a wooden chair and cracks it over their heads. York-Adams falls to the floor and Snipes slumps into a nearby chair, visibly dazed. An NYPD spokesman said an investigation is ongoing, but that the incident was not currently being investigated as a hate crime.

At the restaurant, Snipes got a text about a death in his family and needed to leave the restaurant quickly, he said. As he headed out, he accidentally knocked over a drink, he said. “A table near us audibly started making pretty gross comments about the two of us like, ‘White faggots, spilling drinks,'” Snipes said. “I don’t let anyone talk to me like that. I went over there and asked, ‘What did you say about us?'” he added. The man knocked Snipes to the ground and started kicking his face and spine, knocking loose one of his teeth, snapping the cartilage in his ear and bruising his head, he said. He shouted, “Take that, faggot,” according to Snipes.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The first video is the blindside attack with the chair. Warning: Graphic violence.

Second view shows the assailant attacking and kicking the victims leading up to the assault with the chair:

The Daily Show Commemorates The Hate Class Of 2015

The Daily Show’s Jessica Williams took one more look at the haters who trolled outside the Supreme Court during last week’s oral arguments for marriage equality.

“With the Supreme Court likely ruling in favor of same-sex marriage, chances are this would be the last hurrah for the Hate Class of 2015, Before they moved on to the real world. I wanted to commemorate them.” Watch the clip below:

Georgia: Church Sign Reads “Homosexuality is a death worthy crime”

Robert Lee, the pastor of Ten Commandments Church in Milledgeville, Ga., recently changed the sign outside his church to read, “Homosexuality is a death worthy crime.”

Lee would seem to be calling for the death of homosexuals.

From Talking Points Memo:

“Homosexuality is an abomination, and the Bible says that homosexuality is a death worthy crime,” Lee told WGXA.

The sign references Leviticus 20:13, which reads, “If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”

Lee told WGXA that he hoped his sign would have an impact and said he would oppose a Supreme Court decision legalizing gay marriage.

“The institution of marriage was instituted by God and it should not be changed by people who deserve not to live,” he said.

Anti-Gay Activists Warn That Same-Sex Marriage Will Lead To “Criminalizing Christianity”

Steven Hotze speaks at Janet Porter’s “Restrain the Judges” press conference in front of the Supreme Court where they delivered “restraining orders” to the Supreme Court demanding that the justices not hear arguments on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage bans.

Via Right Wing Watch:

The activists, including Scott Lively, Peter LaBarbera and Bill Owens, also announced that they were filing a motion asking Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan to recuse themselves from the case because they, in Lively’s words, “deliberately officiated at so-called homosexual wedding ceremonies.”

Steven Hotze of Conservative Republicans of Texas, a Roy Moore acolyte who has been advocating for a bill in his state barring the use of funds to issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples if the state’s marriage ban is struck down, declared that gay marriage is “not a marriage, it’s a mirage, because it’s counterfeit, it’s a lie, it’s untrue.”

A decision in favor of marriage equality, he warned, “would force individuals to have to condone, accept, even celebrate sexual immorality among certain elements of the population and teach it to the children.”

“It would criminalize Christianity,” he added. “The pastors would be forced to have to marry those of the same-sex.”

They are literally making lies up now. Bald-faced lies. Not one LGBT activist has ever said pastors should be forced to officiate a same-sex wedding. Nor has anyone raised the idea of “criminalizing Christianity.”

But they just keep lying and lying and lying.

Ignore them, please. Just be aware of this kind of negativity and hate exists.

Tony Perkins Introduced As Hate-Group Leader On FACE THE NATION

Finally! This just makes my day that a network news show exposes Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council for who and what they are.

Via (appropriately) Crooks And Liars:

During a discussion about marriage equality on Face the Nation, CBS host Bob Schieffer began by noting that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) had determined that Perkins’ organization, the Family Research Council, was a “hate group.”

“The Southern Poverty Law Center has branded the Family Research Council an anti-gay hate group,” Schieffer explained as if it were a warning to his viewers. “We have been inundated by people who say we should not even let you appear because they, in their view — quote — you don’t speak for Christians.”

Following Perkins, Evan Wolfson of Freedom To Marry spoke with Schieffer about the momentum of the marriage equality movement.

It’s reported that Perkins refused to appear face to face with Wolfson, and would only appear “back to back.”

GoFundMe Cancels Anti-Gay Oregon Bakers Money Beg

Aaron Klein of Sweet Cakes by Melissa

I wrote yesterday about the anti-gay Oregon bakers at Sweet Cakes by Melissa who are looking at a $135,000 fine for breaking public accommodation laws by not serving a lesbian couple.

The bakers took to GoFundMe to raise money from strangers to pay for their lawbreaking habits.

Within hours the campaign raised $110,000 but was halted by GoFundMe because raising money for breaking the law is against the Terms and Conditions of the website:

“After careful review by our team, we have found the “Support Sweet Cakes By Melissa” campaign to be in violation of our Terms and Conditions. The money raised thus far will still be made available for withdrawal. While a different campaign was recently permitted for a pizzeria in Indiana, no laws were violated and the campaign remained live. However, the subjects of the “Support Sweet Cakes By Melissa” campaign have been formally charged by local authorities and found to be in violation of Oregon state law concerning discriminatory acts. Accordingly, the campaign has been disabled.”

In the end, the bakers look to pocket $110,000.

Boo.

Oregon Judge Suggests $135K Fine For Anti-Gay Bakers

Aaron Klein of Sweet Cakes by Melissa

Sweet Cakes by Melissa, a bakery in Gresham, Oregon, has been fined $135,000 in a decision by an administrative law judge for the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries.

Judge Alan McCullough issued his proposed fines today. The amount is not final, however. The State Labor Commissioner will have final say on the fine amount.

The controversy began in January 2013 when Aaron Klein turned away Rachel Bowman-Cryer and her mother at a cake-tasting appointment they had set up with Melissa Klein. Melissa Klein was not at the shop that day.

In August 2013, the women complained to BOLI. The agency conducted an investigation and in January 2014 brought charges that the Kleins had unlawfully discriminated against the couple because of their sexual orientation.

In a statement Friday, BOLI said: “The facts of this case clearly demonstrate that the Kleins unlawfully discriminated against the Complainants. Under Oregon law, businesses cannot discriminate or refuse service based on sexual orientation, just as they cannot turn customers away because of race, sex, disability, age or religion. Our agency is committed to fair and thorough enforcement of Oregon civil rights laws, including the Equality Act of 2007.”

The Kleins have already set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to pay the fine. Over 12,000 was raise in less than three hours.

Scott Lively: Gay Marriage Opponents Must Take Pitchforks & Torches To The Streets

Virulently anti-gay Scott Lively gives you dramatic flair today in an essay for World Net Daily over the coming of gay marriage:

“The natural family is the ecosystem of humanity! It must be preserved at all costs. How? By a populist uprising! The elites need to see the angry mob – liberals and conservatives together – surging through the streets, pitchforks and torches held aloft, ready to tear down Frankenstein’s castle with their bare hands if need be.

“For Christians it’s Jesus and the moneychangers time! Making a whip of cords like He did with His own hands, and letting these arrogant puppet-masters know we mean to use it (metaphorically speaking).

“The bottom line is this: The elitists always believe they’re smarter, wiser and better than you. They play the game of democracy to keep the peace, but they always follow their own agenda to the fullest extent the people will allow by their complacency. The only way to deter the elites is with the threat of the mob.

“They need to see the pitchforks and torches to know they’ve gone too far and need to back down.”

SRSLY. Pitchforks and torches in the streets. Arrogant puppet-masters.

Again and again I write: no one else’s families are threatened by gay and lesbian couples marrying.

No one.

The hysteria grows as the anti-gay mob sees a future where LGBT folks have the same rights as them.

And they just. Can’t. Stand. It.

Video: Matt Baume Breaks Down The Anti-Gay Marriage Lies

Matt Baume does an excellent job of breaking down just about every lie and untruth anti-gay Tony Perkins has put out to the public in this short video.

Perkins is about to distribute a DVD to hundreds of church (for the low, low price of just $20) that primes the hate factor against same-sex marriage just in time for the oral arguments at SCOTUS next week.

With just the tiniest bit of snark, Matt breaks down all the homophobia and untruths for you. Hit play and see all the “arguments” disintegrate.

Must see.

Michigan: Anti-Gay Auto Shop Owner Claims Graffiti Attack By “Evil” Homosexual Agenda

Michigan auto shop owner Brian Klawiter recently reported his business being vandalized by what he calls the “evil” homosexual agenda.

This comes in the wake of Klawiter’s inflammatory statements last week when he said he wouldn’t serve “openly gay” customers.

From Klawiter’s Facebook page:

Well, folks, as we predicted, it didn’t take long for the ugly face of the homosexual movement to present itself. What started out with “mere” death threats against myself and my family and homosexuals spamming my Facebook page with gay porn shots, has escalated to physical violence.

[snip]

The homosexual agenda is evil, and is prepared to destroy anyone who gets in its way, or who calls homosexuality a sin. Today it’s us; tomorrow, it could be you.

There’s really no way to know if this is true vandalism or staged to gin up further anti-gay furor.

But everyone should know violence and destruction by our side does no good for anyone.

Nowhere. No how.

Don’t do it.
