Democrats Will Nominate Biden In Virtual Session To Ensure He’s On Ohio Ballot

The Democratic National Committee will hold a virtual session to nominate President Biden, thwarting Ohio Republicans’ attempt to keep him off the ballot. In April, Ohio’s Secretary of State Frank LaRose informed the Democratic National Committee that the certification deadline to get President Joe Biden on the state’s 2024 presidential ballot is 12 days before the Democratic National Convention, where Biden would officially be chosen as the Democratic nominee. In 2010, Ohio lawmakers passed legislation that requires certification of a candidate 90 days before the general election. Today, the DNC announced it will hold a virtual roll call before Ohio’s August 7 deadline, sidestepping the partisan play by Ohio Republicans, who could have simply moved the deadline, which they’ve done in the past.
