Human Rights Campaign Endorses Hillary Clinton For President

The Human Rights Campaign has endorsed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for president.

Out on the campaign trail, we’ve seen Secretary Clinton fight back against Republicans threatening to block our progress – and revoke, repeal, and overturn the gains made during President Obama’s two terms. Just as she has fought for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people as First Lady, U.S. Senator, and Secretary of State.

In the time since she became the very first First Lady to march in a pride parade, she has led on bills to protect LGBT workers from employment discrimination, advanced hate crimes legislation, pushed for greater HIV/AIDS prevention and funding, and worked to extend partner benefits. As Secretary of State, she did more to advance LGBT equality as a pillar of U.S. foreign policy than any other diplomat in history, giving a landmark speech to the United Nations declaring that “gay rights are human rights.” She helped lead the United Nations to pass the first-ever U.N. resolution on the human rights of LGBT people, and created the Global Equality Fund to advance the rights of LGBT people around the globe.

As a candidate for president, Hillary Clinton has made LGBT equality a pillar of her campaign, and recently unveiled the most robust and ambitious LGBT agenda any candidate for president has ever laid out. She has vowed to fight for the Equality Act – a bill that would finally offer explicit, clear, and permanent nondiscrimination protections for LGBT people at the federal level — and her detailed LGBT agenda specifically calls for dropping the ban on open transgender military service, outlawing dangerous conversion therapy for minors, ending the epidemic of anti-transgender violence and supporting HIV prevention and affordable treatment, among other proposals that would advance equality and support the LGBT community.

Jeb Bush Attacks Marco Rubio To The Tune Of “These Boots Are Made For Walkin'”

Lets face it – part of the fun of primary season is the sometime hysterical manner and audacious lengths some candidates will go to attack another.

Today we get Jeb Bush’s latest attack on Sen. Marco Rubio which incorporates the recent “Bootgate” story regarding Rubio’s choice of Cuban heel footwear.

Set to the tune of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walkin'” the spot highlights Rubio’s absences at Senate votes and his record of flip-flopping.

It’s worth noting that Jeb Bush was once considered a mentor of sorts to young Rubio.

Sen. Rand Paul Declines To Attend GOP “Undercard” Debate This Week

Fox Business has announced only 7 of the current GOP contenders for the Republican presidential nomination will take the stage this Thursday night.

Sen. Rand Paul did not make the cut, being relegated to an earlier “undercard” debate with Carly Fiorina, Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee.

Paul says he won’t attend the undercard debate.

In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Monday, Paul said he would boycott the Fox Business debate and called the network’s decision a “mistake.”

“It’s a mistake because the thing is we actually have been in the top five or six in most of the recent polls. In fact, last week in a national poll we were just one point out of fourth place. So I think it’s a mistake to try to exclude me from the national debate,” he said.

“I won’t participate in anything that’s not first tier because we have a first tier campaign,” the Kentucky senator told Blitzer.

Gallup Poll Shows Jeb Bush Net Favorable Rating Dropped 28 Points In Six Month

According to the latest Gallup U.S. Daily poll, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has seen his net favorable rating among Republicans drop a precipitous 28 points to a sad -1. He currently has a 44% Favorable rating versus his 45% Unfavorable rating.

That means Bush has the worst Net Favorable rating in terms of major political players in the GOP race.

Donald Trump comes in with 35% Unfavorable rating, second only to Bush. Think on that one for the current front runner – 35% of what should be his base have a negative view of him.

Interestingly, Sen. Ted Cruz has the lowest Unfavorable rating with only 16% of Republicans viewing him in negative terms.

Marco Rubio Reminds You What A Young Jock He Is

Earlier this week, Sen. Marco Rubio released a campaign spot where he tried to “out-Jesus” his competitors in the current pack GOP White House hopefuls.

Today, in another campaign ad – set to air during NFL playoffs –  Rubio goes “full-jock”to remind you:

• He played college football, so he’s cool.

• Married a Miami Dolphins cheerleader, so he’s cool.

• He can laugh at his now-famous debacle of a State of the Union rebuttal speech when he nervously reached for water, so he’s cool still thirsty.

Rubio told the crew at Fox & Friends that the ad was “just another way to keep people interested.”

“In the end we’re focused on the big issues before our country, but football is pretty big this week,” Rubio said.

Trump Supporters Destroy Protester Signs At Massachusetts Rally

The atmosphere at Donald Trump rallies continues to devolve as this video from last night shows. Note that the men are sitting quietly holding their signs in their laps when the trouble begins.

The two appear to have been holding handmade signs (“AMERICA IS ALREADY GREAT”) when their seat mates notice and take issue. One Trump supporter shouts “shut your mouth!” at the silent man, while another demands “You’re at a Trump rally? Ditch those. Ditch ’em.”

After these neighboring men tore up the signs, the two protesters are escorted out by Lowell police officers. As usual, it appears Trump took a great deal of satisfaction in the theater of the confrontation, which sent his fans into a frenzy of USA! chants and applause.

So much for public discourse.

And did you catch the woman next to the men try to trip them as they are escorted out?

Melania Trump: “People Are Very Curious About Me”

In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Mrs. Donald Trump (aka Melania Trump) explains why she has been absent from the campaign trail:

“Because of who my husband is, and our life, and also he is number one in the polls — well, you take that all together, and people are very curious about me.

“I’m choosing not to go political in public because that is my husband’s job. I’m very political in private life, and between me and my husband I know everything that is going on. I follow from A to Z.

“But I chose not to be on the campaign. I made that choice. I have my own mind. I am my own person, and I think my husband likes that about me.”

Mrs. Trump was a successful fashion model, having worked with photographers like Helmut Newton and Mario Testino, and appearing in high profile photo shoots including the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition in 2000.

Campaign Ad Puts Marco Rubio’s Faith Front & Center

 Sen. Marco Rubio has a new campaign ad out in Iowa in an attempt to woo the heavy conservative evangelical vote. The ad puts the young senator’s faith front and center.

From CNN:

In the 30-second ad, the Florida senator speaks directly with the camera to share why Christianity is important to him spliced with footage of his family.

“The purpose of our life is to cooperate with God’s plan,” Rubio says in the ad. “To those who much as been given, much is expected. And we will be asked to account for that … I try to allow that to influence me in everything that I do.”

Clearly a move to try and reach for some of Sen. Ted Cruz’s support in the state. Cruz currently leads the pack of GOP contenders in recent polls. Rubio is trailing a distant third.

Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson Announces Another Libertarian Run For President

Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson has decided he’s going to make another run for the White House.

Back in 2012, Johnson began for a run president as a Republican, but dropped out of the Republican race to run as a Libertarian getting over 1.2 million votes.

For those counting, that’s about 1% of the vote.

Johnson regards himself as a fiscal conservative and social liberal. He’s pro-LGBT and pro-choice.

Since he left the governor’s mansion, he’s been working with a new company selling marijuana products. Legalizing pot was a passion for the two-term governor.

Johnson made his announcement today during a Fox Business News interview.
