Politico Trolls Donald Trump After His Latest Attack

Donald Trump attacks Politico on Twitter

Political news site Politico is currently the target du jour of Donald Trump attack’s on media he doesn’t like.

But the folks at Politico are trolling him right back with an article titled “The 199 Most Donald Trump Things Donald Trump Has Ever Said.”

Just a few choice bits:

• “I have black guys counting my money. … I hate it. The only guys I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes all day.” ( USA Today, May 20, 1991)

• “… she does have a very nice figure. I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.” (ABC’s “The View,” March 6, 2006)

• “If I get my name in the paper, if people pay attention, that’s what matters.” ( Donald Trump: Master Apprentice, 2005)

• “Part of the beauty of me is that I am very rich.” (ABC’s “Good Morning America,” March 17, 2011)

Campaign Ad: “Draft Joe Biden”

New television ad from the group Draft Biden set to air on morning network television leading up to the first Democratic debate.

From the New York Times:

The haunting, mostly black-and-white commercial from the group, Draft Biden, features audio from a speech he gave at Yale University’s commencement in May, just days before his elder son, Beau, died of brain cancer. At a minute and a half, it is longer than most political ads.

“My dad’s definition of success is when you look at your son or daughter and realize they turned out better than you – and they did,” Mr. Biden says in the commercial, titled “Joe Biden: ‘My Redemption.’ ”

The ad is to have its debut on NBC’s “Today” show on Wednesday morning, and it will be shown on CNN on Tuesday in the hours leading up to the cable channel’s coverage of the first Democratic presidential debate. The initial buy is for $250,000, according to Draft Biden officials, who said they hoped to add to that.

The creator of the ad says he hasn’t spoken to Biden about the ad, nor does he know if Biden will join the hunt for the presidency.

The group, Draft Biden, adds this direct message to Joe Biden on the YouTube page:

The ad highlights how Joe has overcome personal tragedies and his vision for the future in his own words: “We are on the cusp of some of the most astonishing breakthroughs in the history of mankind – scientific, technological, socially. It will be up to you in this changing world to translate those unprecedented capabilities into a greater measure of happiness and meaning, not just for yourself but for the world around you.”

Joe, run. Our country needs you.

Pennsylvania: State Rep. Brian Sims Announces Run For Congress

The very smart (and let’s face – seriously woofy) Pennsylvania State Rep. Brian Sims has announced he will seek run for Pennsylvania’s 2nd Congressional District.

The 37 year old currently represents Philadelphia’s City Center.

From his announcement today:

When I was 16, I decided I wanted to be a civil rights lawyer. I saw injustice and discrimination around me, and I wanted to stop it.

I’ve spent my life fighting for equality. Whether tackling gender and pay equity as a civil rights attorney, or standing up for justice reform in Harrisburg, I’ve never backed down from the big fights. And I never will.

And that’s why—I wanted you to be one of the first to know—today I’m announcing my candidacy for Pennsylvania’s 2nd Congressional District.

Now I’ve just got one question: Are you with me?

Working side by side, I know we can create real economic fairness and opportunity. I will fight to strengthen education so all of our kids can get a fair shot. And I will stand up to the NRA to get the guns off our streets.

The Congressional seat Sims is running for is currently occupied by Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.), who was indicted in July as a result of alleged roles in a racketeering conspiracy.

He was the first openly gay person elected to the Pennsylvania Legislature.

Jeb Bush Promises Middle Class Families $2K Under His Tax Plan

In his new campaign ad, current 5th ranked Republican White House hopeful Jeb Bush promises that “the average middle-class family would save $2,000 a year” under his tax plan.

And gee, how much would millionaires and billionaires save?

What also doesn’t get mentioned is “what services will Americans lose?”

Hillary Clinton On Season Premiere Of Saturday Night Live

Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton is getting good marks for her appearance on SNL last night where she played a Brooklyn bartender offering support to SNL cast member Kate McKinnon’s “fake Hillary Clinton.”

The segment did exactly what those close to Clinton have been encouraging her to do to appear more personable: use her self-deprecating sense of humor she’s famous for to help boost sagging poll numbers. The two even mocked some of Clinton’s slow-to-act positions such as her opposition to the Keystone XL Pipeline and support of gay marriage. “I could have supported it sooner,” fake Clinton said. “Well, you supported it pretty soon,” real Clinton said. “Yeah… coulda been sooner” said fake Clinton.

The most hilarious moment came when old SNL cast member Darrell Hammond appeared to do his Bill Clinton impression, took one look at the two HRC’s and screamed “Oh my God! They’re multiplying!” before running out of the fake Brooklyn bar.

Hillary Clinton Leads By 18 Points In New USA Today/Suffolk University Poll

In the latest USA Today/Suffolk University poll, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton still leads Sen. Bernie Sanders by 18 points.

Clinton garners 43% of support from likely voters, while Sanders gets 23% and an announced Vice-President Biden gets 20%.

The poll also shows that Democratic voter by a margin of 54%-34% feel the announced six Democratic debates are sufficient, and don’t feel the need for more. Some candidates have argued that the six is too limiting.

I personally think six is plenty. If the candidates can’t communicate their positions in about 12 hours of TV time, then they need to think more about their message.
