US Olympian hottie Ryan Lochte could be the next “Bachelor”

Ryan Lochte, hottie US 2012 Olympian, apparently has his eyes on a new prize: being a reality TV star.

On an appearance with Matt Lauer on the TODAY SHOW he said,  “I’m definitely looking towards Dancing With the Stars and The Bachelor, so we’ll see what happens,” adding that he plans to move to Los Angeles and work on a fashion line. A rep for ABC would not comment on casting for The Bachelor.

As The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported, Lochte’s sports agent, Erika Wright, said that the swimmer has multiple TV offers on the table.

“I cannot tell you the exact shows, but two different reality show concepts have been offered and one additional is being discussed,” Wright wrote in an e-mail, adding that American talk shows are angling to book Lochte as a guest when he returns to the States.

Olympic Inspiration: Oscar Pistorius of South Africa

South African Olympic sprinter Oscar “Blade Runner” Pistorius has been one of the most inspiring stories of this Olympics.

Born without fibulas (commonly known as the calf bone), both his legs were amputated below the knee when he was still an infant.

At the age of 17 and with just a few months of training, he won a gold medal at 200 meters in the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, also adding silvers in the 400 meters and 100 meters.

Pistorius ran in the men’s 400-meter race in London over the weekend, making history as the first double amputee to compete in the Olympic games.

Although he did not medal, he did make it clear how successful his journey to the Olympics and competing among the other athletes made him feel.

After the race, fellow competitor Kirani James of Grenada turned to Pistorius, hugged him, and then asked to exchange name bibs, a poignant gesture of respect.

Pistorius had come in at 46.54 seconds, .95 of a second behind James, the winner. James said of Pistorius, “He’s very special to our sport. He’s a great individual – it’s time we see him like that and not anything else.”

Pistorius called James a “phenomenal competitor” and said that trading the name bibs was “what the Olympic spirit is all about.”

The things that happen at the Olympics…

A lot is being made of our US Rowing team getting a Bronze medal at these Olympics.

But even more is being made out of this picture in which one of the rowers is apparently “more excited” than most Olympians get when being presented with their medal.

However, U.S. Olympic rower Henrik Rummel says he doesn’t have an erection in the pic. He has gone on Reddit to say that he’s not “excited” – that’s just who he is.

“This is me and I swear it’s not erect! I don’t know why it ended up in that position but there you go.”

Michael Phelps finishes big at 2012 Olympics

Michael Phelps retires at 27 and steps away from the pool after making unprecedented waves at this year’s London Olympics. Here’s the BBC with commentary on his last finish.

Phelps swam the third leg of the 4x100m medley relay, helping team USA solidify win. The first place finish yielded Phelps’ 22nd medal – 18 of them Gold – the most in Olympic history.
