QAnon Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) told her podcast audience that straight people will be extinct within a few generations.
“They just want you to think that all of a sudden the entire population is steadily turning gay or turning trans. Just generation, generation. Probably in about four or five generations, no one will be straight anymore. Everyone will be either gay or trans or non-conforming or whatever the list of 50 or 60 different options there are.”

Of course, “the entire population” isn’t “turning gay or turning trans.” The reason you hear more people openly identifying as LGBTQ is because they feel safer to come out thanks to more representation in the media AND laws to protect them from harm.
The percent of Americans who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer increased 60 percent between 2012 and 2020, according to a February 2021 report from Gallup.
“Younger people are growing up in an environment where being gay, lesbian or bisexual is not as taboo as it was in the past,” Gallup Poll editors Jeffrey Jones told NBC News. “So they may just feel more comfortable telling an interviewer in a telephone survey how they describe themselves. In the past, people would maybe be more reluctant.”
Greene also declared “monkeypox is really only transmitted mostly through gay sex” saying medical officials have claimed “monkeypox can clearly jump from person to person” because “monkeys jump from tree to tree.”
Additionally, she countered claims that white supremacist groups are “the most dangerous terrorists,” by saying “some of the most dangerous people in America are trans-terrorist.”
