Some news items you might have missed: • LGBTQ Nation: Some Pride organizations say they will no longer accept corporate sponsors who have retreated from diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts and plan to move to a community-funding model. • OUT: Sasha Allen, the trans singer-songwriter who found the national spotlight during season 21 of The Voice in 2021, has released his first EP, Jawbreaker. Check out the lyrics for the first track, “David & Goliath,” which chronicles his disappointing experience with his first record deal. • View From The Wing: A Sheraton Hotel in Puerto Vallarta quoted a gay couple what seemed like a high price for a same-sex wedding. So straight friends submitted a request for the same wedding package—same number of guests, same dates, same everything. That quote came back for thousands less. • Axios: On this day in 1947, Jackie Robinson made his debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers and broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball. In his honor, all MLB players will wear Robinson’s No. 42 during Tuesday’s games.
• The Advocate: An Indiana mom confronted a teacher while wearing a firearm then sent her an email containing death threats because the teacher had assigned her daughter a project about different flags including the Pride flag. • New York Times: A federal judge had stern words for the Trump administration on Tuesday for dragging its feet in complying with a Supreme Court order that directed the White House to “facilitate” the release of a Maryland man who was wrongly deported to a prison in El Salvador last month.
Breaking News: A judge rebuked the U.S. government for doing “nothing” to bring back a man wrongly deported to El Salvador, after orders to “facilitate” his return.
