Revry’s first full-length original scripted comedy series, Unconventional, examines modern queer life through the lens of six-time Emmy nominee Kit Williamson (EastSiders, Mad Men). The show follows two queer siblings and their respective partners — one of whom is the sperm donor to the other’s wife — exploring chosen family, relationships, and identity. The ensemble cast includes Kit Williamson, James Bland, Kathy Griffin, Beau Bridges, Laith Ashley, and RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Willam Belli. During a premiere party in Los Angeles, Williamson reflected on the differences between his previous dark comedy series “EastSiders” and “Unconventional” telling the attendees:
“’EastSiders’ is, in many ways, a show about being a gay mess in your 20s, and this is a show about being a gay mess in your 30s.
“The problems and challenges you face at this stage of life—when the traditional or conventional roads laid out by society don’t apply—are a big part of what ‘Unconventional’ explores. As queer people, we’re used to charting our own course, and that’s really the spirit of the show.”
