Some news items I thought worth your time:
• ABC News: As I reported last night, Donald Trump ordered the immediate release of gay serial liar/former Rep. George Santos from prison. Trump’s clemency order also lets Santos off the hook for almost $600,000 he’d agreed to pay in restitution and forfeiture.
• Queerty: Out country superstar and 11-time GRAMMY Award winner Brandi Carlile gets political in “Church & State” – from her highly anticipated new album, Returning To Myself, out October 24.
• The Guardian: US Customs and Border Protection implemented a new rule this week requiring airlines to disregard “X” sex markers on passports and input an “M” or “F” marker instead, sending those people with an “X” marker into panic.
• NBC News: The Trump administration is now begging the Supreme Court to immediately allow for the deployment of National Guard troops in Illinois after lower courts, including the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, said ‘no.’

• Axios: Donald Trump did not commit to selling Ukraine the long-range Tomahawk missiles it has asked for during his meeting Friday with Ukraine President Zelenskyy, saying he believes the war can be ended without them.
This comes just a day after he spoke to Russian President Putin by phone. Note – there’s been a months-long cycle of Trump declaring peace is “within reach” after speaking with Putin, only to be disappointed.
NEW: In a tough meeting on Friday President Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he doesn’t intend to provide long-range Tomahawk missiles in order not to undermine his diplomatic efforts to end the war. My story on @axios https://t.co/D2lj8QeCJt
