Thousands Of ‘No Kings’ Protests Begin Across The Country

Crowds are assembling today nationwide at over 2,600 sites for a new wave of “No Kings” demonstrations opposing President Donald Trump amid escalating tensions related to a government shutdown, strict immigration policies, and military deployments aimed at combating crime in cities run by Democrats.

“No Kings” brings together hundreds of national and local activist groups united in protest what they see as deepening authoritarianism within the administration.  The movement is committed to nonviolent action.

The name of the movement is derived from some protesters’ stated belief that Trump is behaving like a monarch.

These events reflect the profound dissatisfaction with Trump’s second term, as surveys indicate the president’s approval rating is currently in negative territory.

Organizers anticipate millions will participate in the rallies, with the most significant turnouts expected in Washington, New York, and Chicago.

For those attending, remember: wear yellow, and keep it peaceful. A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. For more info, check out this resource guide.

All participants should seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
