Poll: Trump Edges Biden In 5 Swing States

The latest New York Times/Siena College poll shows President Biden trailing Donald Trump in 5 of the 6 most important battleground states a year out from the 2024 election. From the new poll: • Trump led Biden in Nevada by 10 points (52%-41%) • Trump led Biden in George by 6 points (49%-43%) • Trump led Biden in Arizona by 5 points (49%-44%) • Trump led Biden in Michigan by 5 points (48%-43%) • Trump led Biden in Pennsylvania by 4 points (48%-44%) • Biden led Trump by 2 points in Wisconsin (47%-45%)

It’s worth noting that we’re 12 months out from the election. A year ago, Republicans were “supposed” to win Congress in a “red wave.” Instead, the GOP got a slim margin in the House, and the Democrats still have a slim majority in the Senate. As several people have pointed out today, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama were all “behind” at this same point in their reelection cycles. That said, I do think it’s interesting the issues raised where Biden seems to have “soft spots.” Just my own two cents: I think with so much upheaval in the world today – from the ongoing war in Ukraine and its effects on the world economy to the devastating war between Israel and Hamas – a negative/dark view, in general, is to expected to some degree.
