If it seems like there’s a LOT of anti-LGBTQ legislation being filed in states, you’re not crazy. In Texas alone, Republican state lawmakers have filed dozens of bills that would negatively affect LGBTQ Texans. These include (but aren’t limited to):
• Banning sex education in grades K-12
• Limiting discussions about human sexuality between teachers and students outside the classroom
• Making it a crime to support trans kids going through social transitioning
• Banning gender-affirming care for everyone including adults

From the Dallas Morning News:
With so many other legislative priorities to tackle in the remaining 10 weeks of session, it’s likely only a few of these proposals will receive significant consideration inside the Capitol.
But the vast number of bills filed signals Republicans intend to do more on LGBTQ issues after banning gender-affirming care for minors and barring transgender people from competing in college athletics based on their gender identity instead of their biological sex in 2023.
One Republican House bill proposes a ban on human sexuality instruction from prekindergarten through eighth grade. Others would ban such instruction from pre-K through 12th grade.
So these people want high schoolers facing raging hormones as they go through puberty to NOT learn anything about “the birds and the bees???” The American Psychological Association has noted in the past that attempts to block access to psychological and medical support puts transgender people “at risk of depression, anxiety and other negative mental health outcomes.” A recent survey by The Trevor Project shows more than 4 in 10 LGBTQ kids in Texas have seriously considered suicide in the past year, with a majority having experienced symptoms of depression and anxiety.
