National PrEP Day + Trump Kills Massive Solar Energy Project + More

Some news items for you as we head into the weekend:

The Advocate: Today is the first National PrEP Day — a new annual event dedicated to spreading information and awareness around HIV prevention, launched by MISTR, the largest tele-health platform for sexual health in the U.S.

Mediaite: Republican candidate for governor of Virginia, current Lt. Gov Winsome Earle-Sears, raised some eyebrows during Thursday night’s debate when she said firing someone from their job for being gay is “not discrimination.”

OUT: I really enjoyed watching Netflix’s BOOTS last night. You should have seen me jump off the couch when the camera panned across a Marines Corps footlocker to reveal “Slovacek” is the last name of one of the show’s regular characters. Get to know more of the ensemble at the link.

The Guardian: The Trump administration has killed a huge proposed solar power project here in my state of Nevada that would have been one of the largest in the world. One more indication that Trump plans to attack not only wind power but all renewable energy.

CNN: Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced on Friday that the US will allow Qatar to build an Air Force facility in Idaho. You’ll recall Qatar is the country that “gifted” Trump with a luxury jet to serve as Air Force One and wanted “nothing in return.”

ABC News: Stocks tumbled in worst day since April after Trump threatened to hike tariffs 100% on imports from China, reigniting his trade war.
