King Charles Unveils LGBTQ Military Memorial + More News

The Times: King Charles III attended the unveiling of a memorial to LGBTQ military members after a decades-long campaign against a ban on being gay in the armed forces. The sculpture, named “an opened letter,” resides at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

Axios: Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner’s campaign manager is stepping down from his position after only days on the job. Platner’s campaign has been thrown into turmoil after controversial social media posts from the past and his tattoo that looked like a Nazi symbol came to light.

Politico: After the Trump administration said it was sending federal poll watchers to observe the upcoming November 4 election, which includes Prop 50, the state announced it will also deploy its own poll monitors to watch over the federal monitors.

LGBTQ Nation: California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is now saying that his state should consider rolling back its law allowing trans students to participate in school sports as their gender, while he argues that he isn’t transphobic because he has signed many pro-trans rights bills and also has a trans godson.

Gayety: The U.S. Virgin Islands has become the first American territory to allow gender marker changes on identification documents establishing a formal process for Virgin Islanders to update their birth certificates and government IDs to reflect their gender identity.
