Some news items you might have missed: • NBC News: A federal judge hearing a challenge to a transgender health care ban in Florida noted that Gov. Ron DeSantis repeatedly spread false information about doctors mutilating children’s genitals even though there have been no such documented cases. • Kenneth-in-the-212: Check out Kenneth’s round-up of the what’s what in LGBTQ publications, including TikTok star Chef Jon Kung on the cover of Between The Lines.
• Axios: The Supreme Court rejected special counsel Jack Smith’s request to immediately decide whether Donald Trump has immunity from prosecution in his election interference case. SCOTUS could decide whether it will take up the case following an appeals court ruling. • The Guardian: The conservative city of Huntington Beach, California, has made a move to block diverse monthlong celebrations of Black history, women’s history, and LGBTQ Pride in favor of observing the revolutionary and civil wars, California’s history, and America’s independence. https://twitter.com/GuardianUS/status/1738154172535456133 • The Hill: In a new Economist/YouGov poll, more than half (53 percent) of registered voters under 30 said they would support President Biden, and less than a quarter (24 percent) said they would support Donald Trump. • LGBTQ Nation: Florida police have obtained a video showing Moms for Liberty co-founder Bridget Ziegler having sex with a woman. It’s unclear if the woman is the same woman who accused Ziegler’s husband of rape after having had regular threesomes with the couple. I personally have no problem with Bridget doing the kick-ball-change with whoever she wants. But don’t go around attacking queer folks in public when you’re part of the LGBTQ alphabet in private. https://twitter.com/lgbtqnation/status/1738276972613017941
