Jim Jordan Loses Speaker Vote (Again) By Wider Margin

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has lost a second round of voting for Speaker of the House. Jordan received fewer ‘yes’ votes (199) and more ‘no’ votes (22) today than yesterday. In both votes, all 212 Democrats were united behind their leader, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). https://twitter.com/Acyn/status/1714692411551519080 Sources are reporting speaker pro tem Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) could be temporarily empowered to oversee the House (at least until January) so the business of the people can get done while the Republicans figure themselves out. A spokesman for Jordan told reporters he isn’t ready to give up: “We’re going to keep going.” https://twitter.com/Michael95cms12/status/1714688985404989915 https://twitter.com/costareports/status/1714681709323530340 https://twitter.com/joshtpm/status/1714662616096760233
