From the New York Times:
Mr. Trump announced her death in a statement on Truth Social, the conservative social media platform he founded. No other details were provided.
“I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City,” he wrote.
“She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life. Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”
The couple went through an ugly, acrimonious divorce in 1992 after Trump had met his soon-to-be second wife, Marla Maples.
In 2017, Ivana ruffled some feathers while promoting a book telling “Good Morning America” that she spoke with the then-president about every two weeks and had his direct White House number.
But she said she didn’t want to call too frequently “because Melania is there and I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that because I’m basically first Trump wife, OK? I’m first lady, OK?”
Melania Trump was reportedly not amused.
