The 2024 Democratic National Convention closed on a huge high as Vice President Kamala Harris officially accepted the Dem nomination for president. Many, many highlights throughout the night, but I’ll just stick to two here. First – who would have ever imagined a prominent Republican speaking at the DNC? But former Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger was the perfect guy to step up to the mic and tell his party the what’s what. No crunchiness, just straight up truth. But it was VP Kamala Harris who brought the house down with her pitch-perfect speech that ended with the entire arena on an incredible emotional high. From the AP:
Kamala Harris summoned Americans on Thursday to reject political division and instead chart what she called a “new way forward,” as she accepted her party’s nomination while blending biography with warnings about electing Donald Trump again to the White House.
“Our nation with this election has a precious, fleeting opportunity to move past the bitterness, cynicism, and divisive battles of the past,” Harris said. “A chance to chart a new way forward. Not as members of any one party or faction, but as Americans.”
