An 8-person jury has ordered Rudy Giuliani, former lawyer for Donald Trump, to pay nearly $150 million to two Georgia election workers for the harm caused by defamatory statements he made about them following the 2020 election. Giuliani repeatedly claimed (without any evidence) that the two women engaged in a fake ballot processing scheme while they served as election workers for Fulton County in the last presidential election. Here’s the breakdown via CNN:
• $16,171,000 to Ruby Freeman for defamation • $16,998,000 to Shaye Moss for defamation • $20 million to Freeman for emotional distress • $20 million to Moss for emotional distress • $75 million in punitive damages to both plaintiffs

Their attorney said he would leave it to the jury to consider how much Giuliani should be ordered to pay the mother and daughter for emotional and punitive damages. Giuliani has repeatedly said that he doesn’t have the funds to pay his numerous legal debts. He’s already been fined more than $200,000 for some of Freeman and Moss’ attorneys’ fees, which he hasn’t paid. He has also been sued for more than $1 million by attorneys defending him on other matters. Additionally, he reportedly owes nearly $60,000 for years-old unpaid phone bills. https://twitter.com/notcapnamerica/status/1735776232392769649 Giuliani put his 3-bedroom Manhattan apartment on the market for sale a few months ago. Listed at $6.1 million, it remains on the real estate listings. Some legal experts on CNN noted that the former New York City mayor has announced he’ll appeal the decision. But apparently, in order to file an appeal, you usually have to put down a bond amount equal to the judgement against you. Rudy clearly doesn’t have that. File another one under “F*cked around, found out.” https://twitter.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1735775016417919187
