FX Comedy Series ‘English Teacher’ Renewed For Season 2

The FX comedy series “English Teacher” starring Brian Joran Alvarez as an out gay high school teacher, has been renewed for a second season. From Variety:

The series originally debuted on FX and Hulu back in September 2024 to positive reviews. Brian Jordan Alvarez created the series and also stars. Along with Alvarez, the cast includes Stephanie Koenig, Enrico Colantoni, Sean Patton and Carmen Christopher.

“’English Teacher’ was one of the most critically acclaimed new shows of 2024 and we are grateful to the producers, writers, cast, directors and crew for the show’s creative excellence,” said Nick Grad, president of FX Entertainment. “We look forward to the new season.”

The news comes following sexual assault allegations against Alvarez made by Jon Ebeling, his former friend and co-star from “The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo,” a 2016 webseries Alvarez produced and starred in.

FX responded to the allegations at the time saying, “We reviewed the allegations presented to us by another media outlet prior to the show’s launch. Mr. Ebeling never reached out to us with any concerns.” I like the series. The shows was a “What To Watch” for me back in December here.
