Face Masks No Longer Required On Airlines

After a federal judge in Florida struck down the mandate requiring face masks for traveling on public transportation, several major airlines – including United, American, Delta, JetBlue, Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air and Southwest – all announced face masks would be optional. Axios reports that Uber, Lyft, and Amtrak all announced Tuesday that riders (and drivers) are not required to wear face masks, though it stressed that the CDC still recommends them for people with certain risk factors or those living in areas with high transmission levels. According to airline crew members, the face masks have been one of the main reasons for the enormous increase in unruly passengers over the past two years.
