Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social account tonight that he has been indicted by a grand jury in Florida on 7 federal charges in connection to his post-presidency possession of classified documents.
“The corrupt Biden Administration has informed my attorneys that I have been Indicted, seemingly over the Boxes Hoax,” Trump wrote.
CNN says it has spoken to sources close to the prosecutors and have confirmed the indictment.
The New York Times reports the seven counts against the former president include conspiracy to obstruct, willful retention of national defense secrets in violation of the Espionage Act, and false statements, according to people familiar with the indictment.
While the Department of Justice isn’t saying anything just yet, Trump says he has to report to a Miami Federal Courthouse next Tuesday at 3 p.m.
