Cynthia Erivo In ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ + TX Gov On Pronouns + More News

Some news items I thought worth your time: • Variety: Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo (WICKED) will play the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar at a Hollywood Bowl presentation of the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical this summer.

The Advocate: A federal judge in Washington state has blocked a key part of Donald Trump’s executive order that sought to restrict access to gender-affirming care for transgender youth, ruling that it is unconstitutional in multiple ways. Billboard: Out pop star Chappell Roan scores her second Hot 100 Top Ten hit with “Pink Pony Club” from her 2023 debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Washington Blade: Superstar JLo, out recording artist Troye Sivan and RuPaul have been added to the entertainment lineup for this year’s WorldPride Music Festival in Washington DC in June. • Texas Tribune: A high school junior in Houston who’s apparently socially transitioning asked teachers to use his chosen name and pronouns, and they did. Now, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott wants to make it a crime to do so. • Newsmax: Donald Trump says he’s “just hearing about” Elon Musk’s Space X employees working directly at the Defense Department and the FAA with whom Musk has billions of dollars of contracts.

SWAN: DOGE and SpaceX employees are now working directly at the FAA and DoD, agencies that have billions of dollars of contracts with Musk’s companies or regulate them. How is that not a conflict of interest?
