With book bans on the rise, the Digital Public Library of America has begun a program granting free access to books restricted in libraries.

Some news items you might have missed:

The Guardian: With book bans rising, primarily due to far-right pressures,  the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) has launched the Banned Book Program, granting free nationwide access to books restricted in schools or libraries.

CBS News: A 43-year-old Trump supporter named Abigail Jo Shry has been arrested for threatening to murder Judge Tanya Chutkan, overseeing Donald Trump’s election interference case. “If Trump doesn’t get elected in 2024, we are coming to kill you, so tread lightly, b*tch,” the voicemail says.

NBC News: Law enforcement officials in Atlanta are anticipating that Donald Trump will surrender at a Fulton County jail no earlier than next Thursday. The deadline is Friday at noon. The Donald apparently wants to see how his co-defendants are treated before showing up.

Tulsa World: Coby Dale Green, 24, has pleaded guilty to attempting to burn down a Tulsa business after it hosted an event with drag queens. Investigators found anti-LGBTQ fliers at the scene. His plea deal agrees to five years in prison.

Axios: A record-high 39% of Americans believe moderate drinking (one to two drinks) is detrimental to health, up 11 points since 2018. Among those 18-34 years old, the number jumps to 52%.
