Ann Coulter On Mike Pence Veep Pick: “Pence Is The Combo-Platter Of Disaster”

Ann Coulter has heard the rumors that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence will soon be Donald Trump’s pick for running mate, and she’s going apoplectic over the idea.

From her Facebook page:

Report: Trump about to make first mistake in VP pick, as predicted by Ann Coulter, July 6, 2016

MY VP PREDICTION: TRUMP’S FIRST MISTAKE

I won’t believe it, until I hear it from the Trump’s mouth.

Pence is the combo-platter of disaster. He’s all in for corporate America bringing in as many guest workers as they please to replace American workers, tried to sell the monster amnesty as a “compromise bill.” (How about this compromise: We start with a wall…)

He also somehow managed to tick off both sides in gay marriage debate. After his state passed a law passed protecting Christians from having to participate in gay marriages, all hell broke loose. Pence thought to himself: ‘I have semi heading for me. Should I just stand here? Yes, I think I’ll just stand here!’ First, he allowed himself to be portrayed as a right-wing homophobic nut and then — just days later — he sold out to the left-wing activists, anyway.

Campaign Ad: “Role Models”

Highlighting the sharp, heated rhetoric of the Donald Trump campaign, Hillary Clinton releases this new spot contrasting the images and language of the two presidential campaigns.

As Stephen Sondheim once wrote, “Careful the things you say, children will listen.”

Via the Washington Post:

The sharply negative spot comes a day before Trump is expected to announce his vice-presidential running mate and several days before the Republican Party’s convention.

In it, video of Trump plays in the background as children watch. Entitled “Role Models,” it contrasts Trump — using profanity, mocking a disabled reporter, apparently alluding to a female reporter’s menstrual cycle — with Clinton, who appears at the end of the ad.

“I love the old days, you know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out on a stretcher, folks,” Trump says in one clip. “And you can tell them to go f*** themselves,” he says in another.

Detroit Police Investigate Viral Video Of Man Pulling Gun On Gay Man

From the Detroit Free Press:

A viral video of a man shouting slurs and pointing a gun at another man he believed was gay as he exited a convenience store on Detroit’s west side has sparked outrage and is being investigated by police, an official confirmed Wednesday.

“We are aware of it,” said Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody. “It was sent to us and we have opened up an investigation on behalf of the victim, although the victim did not come forward. We are investigating it. Obviously, it’s very troubling that anyone would feel comfortable enough to point a weapon at anyone and post it on social media for everyone to see and attacking and singling out a person … regardless of how they identify is outrageous.”

The 32-second video was initially posted at 8:16 p.m. Tuesday and shows a man sitting in a car at the Brightmoor Liquor store, at 22002 Lyndon St., uttering gay slurs. When the second man walks out of the convenience store, the man in the car shouts “Yo” at him to get his attention. The man ignores him initially, but as he passes the window of the car, the man in the car points a gun at him at the 22-second mark of the video while saying, “Take those pants off, bro. What the f–k you on?”

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg Apologizes For Recent Comments On Presidential Race

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg says she regrets remarks she made to CNN and other news outlets criticizing presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald J. Trump.

“On reflection, my recent remarks in response to press inquiries were ill-advised and I regret making them. Judges should avoid commenting on a candidate for public office. In the future I will be more circumspect,” she said in a statement.

Cleveland City Council Passes Comprehensive Trans Bathroom Rights

By a unanimous vote, the Cleveland City Council has passed Ordinance 1446 — a measure which protects the rights of transgender citizens to use the restrooms and facilities that align with their gender identity.

While a 2009 law granted trans protections in employment and public accommodations, until today transgender people have continued to face legal discrimination in access to single-sex facilities such as locker rooms and restrooms.

From the Human Rights Campaign:

Today’s pro-equality vote comes just days ahead of the 2016 Republican National Convention, which is being held in Cleveland. A slew of anti-LGBTQ provisions have been proposed this week by the party’s policy subcommittee, including a provision supporting anti-transgender discrimination, a provision calling for a Constitutional amendment undermining marriage equality, and another supporting the discredited and dangerous practice of so-called “conversion therapy.”

Cleveland now joins 19 states and more than 100 cities that have explicit non-discrimination protections on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in public accommodations, housing and employment. Columbus and Cincinnati also have similar protections in place.

Prince Harry Livestreams His Own HIV Test

Handsome Prince Harry, in an effort to raise awareness about knowing your HIV status, took an HIV test via livestream which was shown on the British royal family’s Facebook page.

With over 100,000 people living in with HIV in the UK, the 31 year old ginger has made raising awareness about HIV status a focus of his public work.

From NBC News:

“It is amazing how quick it is,” the 31-year-old Harry said during his appointment at a London hospital. The famously red-headed royal added: “So whether you’re a man, woman, gay, straight, black or white — even ginger — why wouldn’t you come an have a test?”

The video hearkened back to groundbreaking images of Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, reaching out to people with HIV in the 1980s. Diana’s gestures — including a photograph of her shaking hands with an HIV-positive man and hugging children with AIDS — went a long way toward removing the stigma around it.

Donald Trump Veepstakes – Pence Or Gingrich?

Word is we should have the news of who the great Cheeto, Donald Trump, will choose to be his running mate by Friday.

Yesterday, folks seemed pretty sure Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has a lock on the nod.

But given the news that Fox News has suspended Newt Gingrich as a political contributor for the time being given his veep consideration AND he is apparently in Indiana today (and Fox News host Sean Hannity flew Gingrich out there), you have to wonder if that points to the Newtster.

JLo & Lin-Manuel Miranda Debut “Love Make The World Go Round” Tribute To Orlando Shooting Victims

Via Rolling Stone:

Jennifer Lopez and Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda delivered the late-night debut of “Love Make the World Go Round,” their tribute to the victims of the Orlando massacre, on Tuesday’s Tonight Show.

Backed by the Roots and a pair of backing vocalists, Lopez crooned the track’s message of hope and resiliency while wearing a massive, multi-colored cape. Miranda emerged midway through the track for a nimbly-rapped verse.

“What we got is love even when the sinners hate us/ We cannot let them diminish or intimidate us/ We sing out, we got the rhythm and the true on our side/ We cut through the divide and we do it with pride,” Miranda rapped. “A generation of innovators enabled to patiently wait for change ’cause change is what they’ve been afraid of/ the malevolence can wait, raise a level of debate, celebrate, elevate.”

Lopez and Miranda released the track July 7th via iTunes.

All proceeds benefit the Hispanic Federation’s Proyecto Somos Orlando initiative, which aims to address the “long-term needs for mental health services that are culturally competent and bilingual.”
