Tumblr User Claims Responsibility For Chelsea Bombing: “I’m The NY Bomber”

(images via Towleroad)

The NYPD is currently investigating whether or not the owner of a Tumblr page is responsible for the Chelsea bombing last night.

The Tumblr page was deleted early Sunday afternoon.

LGBT blogging site Towleroad grabbed screenshots before the page was removed.

According to the New York Daily News, “A police source told the Daily News the department is investigating the blog. Another source said the NYPD is speaking to local LGBT activists for any clues about the webpage.”

Not sure if this will pan out as the New York Post is reporting that an “Arab-looking” man has been implicated by witnesses, and a letter written in Arabic in part was found with the second bomb that was not exploded.

I’ve also heard reports that the poster may actually be based in North Carolina…?

The Tumblr page, bearing the title, “I’m the NY Bomber,” had only two posts.

The first post, titled “Manufacturing Test Explosives”, seemed to take credit for the bombing on behalf of “homosexuals like myself” as social justice for anti-LGBTQ oppression.

Manufacturing Test Explosives

Hi.

You probably have all seen the news by now,

the explosives detonated in New York City, that was me. Those were just some tests, I know where I have made errors and I will not make the same mistake next time.

I did it because I cannot stand society.

I cannot live in a world where homosexuals like myself as well as the rest of the LGBTQ+ community are looked down upon by society.

It is 2016 and we are still being viewed as mentally ill, sinners, attention seekers, and just plain weirdos in general. I am not going to stand by while under classed and underprivileged people are oppressed. I am not going to stand by while there is inequality in my country such as the racism being seen in white police officers all over the country. I am not going to live in a country where it is OK to have a misogynist, xenophobic, racist Islamophobic, republican candidate running for President of The United States! That’s implying that republicans in general should even be taken seriously as they are all cisgendered privileged white people.

This is not the end, this is just the beginning. I will be remembered. I will make a difference. I will eliminate my targets before it is too late.

The second post, titled “Taking a human life”, expressed more of the same:

Taking a human life

I don’t know exactly how I feel about taking human lives

However, what I do know is that If I don’t do what needs to be done nobody will pay attention. LGBTQ+ people are much more likely to commit suicide than straight cisgendered people. It seems that nobody cares, however what if people from the LGBTQ+ community started lashing out in response to the violence and oppression we face with violence and possibly oppression? I’m sure that would give people a reason to not stand by while so many people are being oppressed. I suppose I’m just going to have to move forward knowing that what I am doing had a purpose and will in fact make a difference. I’ll keep you all posted.

Out Music: Wrabel “11 Blocks”

Out singer/songwriter Wrabel drops the official video for his new single “11 Blocks.”

Currently on tour with multi-platinum artists Gavin DeGraw and Andy Grammer, Wrabel is riding the strength of his single “11 Blocks,” as it powers its way to Top 10 at Hot AC radio and was added to iHeart Radio’s prestigious On The Verge program.

NYLON magazine says Wrabel is “stocked with the soulfulness of a Sia or Sam Smith, and a melodic pop DNA that throws back to icons like Paul Simon…”

Wrabel first made a splash on the world stage in 2014 with his debut single, “Ten Feet Tall”. Grammy Award®-winning DJ and producer Afrojack reached out to Wrabel to record his own version of “Ten Feet Tall” which was featured during Super Bowl XLVIII on a Bud Light commercial. The VEVO video for “Ten Feet Tall” has more than 65 million views to date.

Speaking to iHeartRadio, Wrabel shared that the song is not only personal to him, but actually straight out of his own life.

“It’s a very literal story, which is frightening. I wrote it about the first person I fell in love with moved 11 blocks away from me in California. In New York everyone is 11 blocks away. I’m there [in NY] a lot and I kind of notice. You have a subway, or whatever. But LA is so spread out. I find myself taking the really weird long route to Whole Foods just to kind of be like, ‘Are you there?’ And so it just felt way too close. And I don’t drive because I think cars are scary, people are scary, and then there’s engines. So I’m walking a lot and I count, it’s literally 11 blocks. And I drew the little map, which is now tattooed to my arm. It’s a real song about a real person, two real people, and that’s really weird. I keep saying weird. It’s just bizarre to me because the night it came out I called my manager and I was like, ‘I kind of want to call Mr. iTunes and be like, ‘Can you take it down actually? Like I’ve made a big mistake.’ It’s too much. The map. I traced it off Google Maps. It’s so dark.”

Adding to the personal expression of this public release, Wrabel posted this to his Facebook this weekend:

tonite i quite literally set the past on fire.

ready to move on.

ready for change.

ready for new.

ready to leave for this tour and ready to share these songs and these stories and my head and my heart with whoever will listen.

hehe this is a bit dramatic.

but sometimes it just has to be.

I really like this. I hope you do, too.

I’ve previously written about out singer/songwriter Wrabel when he dropped his remix of “I Want You.”

Trump Campaign Manager: “I Can’t Support Someone Who Lies For A Living”

Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway did the “friendly face-off” with HBO’s Bill Maher this past Friday night.

Maher and Conway are friends of over 20 years, and it shows it the back and forth.

Via Huffington Post:

Maher welcomed Conway by telling her she is “enabling pure evil,” and spent part of the segment calling out false things Trump has said. The comedian joked, “I don’t have time to go through all of his lies, we only have an hour.”

But Conway, a “Real Time” veteran, had plenty of counterarguments ready. She accused Maher of cherrypicking examples, and, after pointing out that Hillary Clinton is falling in the polls, said, “I actually think we’re going to win, Bill. You know it. You feel it. I think you’re getting nervous.”

“Oh, I am getting nervous,” Maher quipped, “but it’s not because Trump is good. It’s because people are stupid.”

Several injured were transported to area hospitals, Donald said.

The explosion was in a dumpster outside a 14-story residence for the blind, the New York Post reported.

Trump: Disarm Hillary’s Bodyguards And “Let’s See What Happens To Her”

Donald Trump, during a campaign rally, told a crowd again (erroneously) that Hillary Clinton wants to take their 2nd Amendment rights away.

He followed that by saying the armed bodyguards she travels with should disarm if she hates guns so much, adding, “Let’s see what happens to her.”

Another physical threat?

Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut was not amused:

Out Films: Russell Tovey Stars In “The Pass”

Russell Tovey (HBO’s Looking) plays a gay footballer in the new movie, The Pass, co–starring Arinze Kene.

Based on the play by John Donnelly, the film follows the story of a closeted player in three segments, one taking place every five years in the player’s life, as he comes to terms with his true self following the night he shares a kiss with a teammate.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Nineteen-year-old Jason and Ade have been in the Academy of a famous London football club since they were eight years old. It’s the night before their first-ever game for the first team – a Champions League match – and they’re in a hotel room in Romania. They should be sleeping, but they’re over-excited. They skip, fight, mock each other, prepare their kit, watch a teammate’s sex tape. And then, out of nowhere, one of them kisses the other. The impact of this ‘pass’ reverberates through the next ten years of their lives – a decade of fame and failure, secrets and lies, in a sporting world where image is everything.

If you’re in or near New York City, you can catch the film at opening night of New York City’s NewFest on October 20th. The movie is set for wide release later this year.
