L.A. Times Goes After Trump For “Routinely” Lying

Donald Trump

The newspapers of America are suddenly interested in Republican Donald Trump’s lack of interest in the truth and his constant stream of false statements.

Earlier today it was the New York Times, and now, the L.A. Times steps up to bat:

Never in modern presidential politics has a major candidate made false statements as routinely as Trump has. Over and over, independent researchers have examined what the Republican nominee says and concluded it was not the truth — but “pants on fire” (PolitiFact) or “four Pinocchios” (Washington Post Fact Checker).

Trump’s candidacy was premised on upending a dishonest establishment that has rigged American political and economic life, so many of his loyalists are willing to overlook his lies, as long as he rankles the powerful, said Republican strategist Rob Stutzman.

“It gives him not only license, but incentive to spin fantasy, because no one expects him to tell the truth,” said Stutzman, who worked against Trump during the primaries. “They believe they’re getting lied to constantly, so if their hero tells lies in order to strike back, they don’t care.”

PolitiFact, a Tampa Bay Times site that won a Pulitzer for its coverage of the 2008 election, has rated 70% of the Trump statements it has checked as mostly false, false or “pants on fire,” its lowest score. By contrast, 28% of Clinton’s statements earned those ratings.

“As we noted when we awarded Trump our 2015 Lie of the Year award for his portfolio of misstatements, no other politician has as many statements rated so far down the dial,” PolitiFact writer Lauren Carroll reported in June. “It’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”

Additionally, news site Politico published a piece titled, “Donald Trump’s Week of Misrepresentations, Exaggerations and Half-Truths,” which chronicled nearly five hours of remarks by Trump over five days on the campaign trail.

The results bore out that Trump said something untrue every 3 minutes and 15 seconds. That adds up to 87 false statements in five days.

But do any of his supporters, or more importantly, any independent voters care?

Trailer: KING COBRA

Much excitement surrounding the release of the trailer for King Cobra, the upcoming Christian Slater/James Franco flick. And why not? With gay porn, murder and crazy/insane characters, what’s not to like?

The flick chronicles the meteoric success of gay adult film star “Brent Corrigan” and his personal/professional relationship with the producer who created him, “Bryan Kocis” played by Christian Slater.

When Corrigan decides he might be better off as a free-agent, Kocis informs Corrigan he’s legally bound to work only for him. As a cash-strapped pair of rival producers aim to cash in by utilizing Corrigan’s talents as well, things take a turn for the dark side.

Starring James Franco, Christian Slater, Molly Ringwald, Alicia Silverstone, Garrett Clayton, and Keegan Allen.

Directed by Justin Kelly (I Am Michael), King Cobra had it’s premiere at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival and was featured Outfest.

In theaters October 21st, 2016.

WILL & GRACE Stars Tease Possible Reunion Show

Debra Messing tweeted this video teaser this morning that seems to indicate there’s a Will & Grace reunion happening soon.

The title cards for the video read, ““A band of heroes WILL assemble to protect the world from aliens & destruction. Only an act of GRACE can save them in their battle for what is right. Only they can bring America back from the brink.”

See what they did there?

We shall see if the reunion ends up being a special or more. The fans of the show recently celebrated the series’ 18th anniversary of it’s launch.

Commercial: Tecate Beer Trolls Donald Trump With #TecateBeerWall

Riffing on Donald Trump’s infamous “wall,” Tecate Beer trolls Trump with their own idea for a wall.

A three foot high wall where folks can get together and have beers.

Note this “Trumpian” statement from Saatchi & Saatchi New York’s Chris Moreira:

“This is a tremendous idea for Tecate. It really is the best idea. We worked with the best clients and hired the best people to work on it. Only the best. It’s terrific.”

Clinton And Trump In Deadheat In Colorado & Pennsylvania

Now, THIS concerns me.

From CNN:

Just one point separates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in two states that are critical to both candidates’ chances of becoming president, according to new CNN/ORC polls in Pennsylvania and Colorado.

In Colorado, likely voters break 42% for Trump, 41% for Clinton, 13% for Libertarian Gary Johnson and 3% for Green Party candidate Jill Stein.

Pennsylvania’s likely voters split 45% for Clinton, 44% for Trump, 6% for Johnson and 3% for Stein. Those divides are well within each poll’s 3.5-point margin of sampling error.

Colorado and Pennsylvania have been considered fairly solid for Clinton.

Super-stats guy Nate Silver has dropped Hillary’s current chances to 52%:

And RealClearPolitics “No Toss Up” map shows Hillary winning the electoral college with only 272 votes. No one wanted to see this get this close.

RuPaul: “The Biggest Obstacle Is Overcoming The Limited Perception Of Yourself”

RuPaul

Speaking to GQ Magazine, RuPaul shares his thoughts on overcoming the negative voices (or “saboteurs” as he calls them) in our own heads that become our greatest obstacles.

Looking back on my career, all the people I’ve met who are so talented… I think that the biggest obstacle is overcoming the limited perception of yourself.

A lot of people who have been victimized are stuck in the idea of perceiving themselves as a victim. Or as a starving artist, or as someone who’s not good with numbers or business or money. And that perception of yourself is what holds you in place. A lot of those people I came up with—who are, by the way, way more talented than me—didn’t have the ability to shut out the saboteur.

And you see it on our show play out every season where a kid is given a challenge and they say, “Oh, but I’m not a comedy queen,” or “I don’t know how to act,” and it’s like, actually, you do, but you have to move the blockage from that blessing so it can come through. Years ago my therapist told me, “The power that you have in drag, Ru, is available to you out of drag.”

With 100% certainty, I agree.

I’ve met tons of successful people in my life. Some have been vastly talented, some not so much. But overcoming the idea that you’re “limited” or “stuck” is a far more difficult wall to climb than not being “as talented as.”

Trump Campaign: Trump Didn’t Lie About Lester Holt, He Just Didn’t Know What He Was Talking About

During an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Donald Trump campaign manager refuses to answer why her candidate called presidential debate moderator Lester Holt a “Democrat” when he’s a registered Republican.

Of course, we all know why: Trump was laying the groundwork to blame Holt in case Trump doesn’t feel like he’s treated “fairly” tonight.

Mika: Why did Trump lie about Lester Holt?

Kellyanne: He didn’t lie, he just… A lie would mean that he knew the man’s party registration.

So, it’s not a lie when you say something untrue because you didn’t know what the hell you were talking about in the first place?

Btw, watch Conway successfully run out the clock without ever answering Mark Halperin’s question about why Trump lied about Holt’s political affiliation. At the 3:19 mark as Joe Scarborough calls for a move-on, Conway gives you that coy smile.
