SNL: More From The Trump White House Crew

In case you missed last night’s Saturday Night Live, check out the cold open featuring that wacky cast of characters from the White House. Joining them this week is a silent “Jared Kushner,” played by guest host Jimmy Fallon.

And then, Melissa McCarthy re-ups as beleaguered White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, as “the Easter Bunny.”

For those who may not know, during the George W. Bush administration, Sparky Spicer handled “bunny duty” for Easter Egg Roll events. I think he was probably more successful in that role that his current assignment.

Thankfully, McCarthy brings Spicer’s wild mangling of the English language to bear in the clip to hysterical results as she recaps the week’s “misses” including topics like Spicer’s Hitler comment, United Airlines, Holocaust “Centers” (really “Concentration Clubs”) and of course, Trump’s “delicious chocolate cake” interview.

Video: Every Time Someone Says ‘Moses’ In “The Ten Commandments”

Berkeley: Pro-Trump Rally Turns Violent

Via The L.A. Times:

Hundreds of pro-Trump demonstrators and counter-protesters clashed Saturday at a “Patriots Day” rally in Berkeley, the third time the two groups engaged in violent confrontations on city streets in recent months.

Fistfights broke out near Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park, where Trump supporters had scheduled a rally. Fireworks and smoke bombs were thrown into the crowd, and a few demonstrators were doused with pepper spray.

Both groups threw rocks and sticks at each other and used a large trash bin as a battering ram as the crowd moved around the perimeter of the park. One bank boarded up its ATM machines before the rally as a precaution.

Sixteen people were arrested, said Officer Jennifer Coats of the Berkeley Police Department. Nine people were injured, with six taken to a hospital for treatment, including one stabbing victim, she said.

Shane Bauer, senior reporter for Mother Jones, was tweeting from Berkeley most of the day. Check out some of the “action” via Bauer’s Twitter feed:

A 16-year-old from Tucson, Arizona, schools Republican Sen. Jeff Flake:

“I’m wondering, as a Planned Parenthood patient, and someone who relies on Title X, who you are clearly not – why is it your right to take away my right to choose Planned Parenthood?”

Trump Makes His 19th Trip To Golf Course In Less Than 3 Months As President

President Trump

It’s the weekend, which means President Trump is more likely than not on a golf course.

As a matter of fact, Trump has taken 19 trips to a golf course since his inauguration.

Personally, I wouldn’t care about Trump’s golf habit had it not been such a sticking point for the Trumpster to continually criticize President Obama for playing golf during his presidency.

Additionally, Trump spent many a tweet on ranting about Obama’s travel costs to the American taxpayer.

And yet, it’s turning out that Trump is the one running up a hefty travel bill being paid by his constituents.

On top of his many trips to his Florida resort Mar-a-Lago, he’s making money charging the U.S. Secret Service to follow him.

CBS News reports that Trump has invoiced the Secret Service over $35,185 for golf cart rentals so the agents could keep him safe on the golf course. Those are HIS golf carts he’s renting out.

In related news, taxpayers have paid over $190,000 just to provide security for Trump spawns Don Jr. and Eric as they travel the world on business.

Sculptor Of The “Charging Bull” Angry Over Installation Of The “Fearless Girl”

Just about everyone is loving the “Fearless Girl” sculpture now on display in lower Manhattan in the Wall Street district.

Well, everyone but the sculptor of the “Charging Bull,” who says the installation of the “Fearless Girl” has changed the meaning of his work, and is a violation of his legal rights.

Via Reuters:

The city’s ruling to let the bronze depiction of a defiant girl remain until February 2018 just feet from the bull’s flaring nostrils should be reviewed, said a lawyer for sculptor Arturo Di Modica.

“How did the process happen and should permits be revoked?” the attorney, Norman Siegel, said in an interview on Wednesday, adding that his client ought to have been consulted.

“He should have been asked, never was,” Siegel said. “There are copyright and trademark infringement issues.”

Di Modica told a news conference he envisioned his statue as a positive symbol, but that the addition of the courageous girl turned his bull into a villain.

“It’s really bad,” Di Modica said, sounding distraught and adding that the bull was loved by people “all over the world.”

The 50-inch (127-cm) girl stands fists on hips on a cobble stone plaza, eye-balling the 11-foot (3.4-meter) bull that has occupied the space in Manhattan’s financial district for nearly three decades.

Siegel said they want the girl sculpture moved and for Di Modica to be awarded damages for the violation of his legal, statutory rights.

Mayor Bill de Blasio responded to the story tweeting, “Men who don’t like women taking up space are exactly why we need the Fearless Girl.”

Flashback Friday: Ellen DeGeneres’ Groundbreaking Coming Out 20 Years Ago Today

It was 20 years ago this week that Ellen DeGeneres made history by coming out on her primetime sitcom.

In doing so, she became the first openly gay lead character on American network television.

You may have noticed the sky never fell 🙂

TIME.com shares her 1997 cover story interview, and it’s well worth the re-reading.

As we all know, while coming out did bruise Ellen’s career for a period of time, it’s clear she (and a more enlightened America) have the last laugh.

Just last year, she received a Presidential Medal of Freedom in part for that courageous, groundbreaking moment of self-truth in 1997.
