John McEnroe On Margaret Court/Lesbians In Tennis Kerfuffle: “Who Gives A F**K?”

Tennis’s legendary bad-boy and elder statesman, John McEnroe, brings a comedic touch to the Margaret Court “lesbians in tennis” debacle in this irreverent “who gives a “f**k?” take on the subject.

Via News.com.au:

In his satirical role as The Commissioner of Tennis on Eurosport, McEnroe said he was a “strong advocate of same-sex marriage”.

“I actually don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t give them the right to be as miserable as everyone else,” McEnroe said.

In the skit released on Saturday night in Paris, McEnroe said Court telling fans that “tennis is full of lesbians” prompted three thoughts to him.

“This is true and who gives a f**k? This is not true and who should give a f**k? This is half true and should we really give a f**k?”, he said.

“As for renaming the court that bears her name in Melbourne Park, the jury is still out.

“The self-appointed Commissioner of Tennis might have a viable solution: keep the name, and when same-sex marriage finally becomes legal in Australia, I will personally call my good friend Elton John to host the biggest same-sex mass wedding ceremony ever seen in the Margaret Court Arena.

“Margaret, that’s the kind of guy I am.”

Trump Doubles Down On Attacks On London Mayor

Donald Trump

In the early aftermath of the recent London attacks, President Trump took time to ridicule the Mayor of London for telling citizens there was “no reason to be alarmed.”

Of course, Trump took the Mayor’s comment out of context. What Mayor Khan was addressing was the increased security measures Londoners would be seeing. The full statement was, “Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. No reason to be alarmed.”

The Mayor’s spokesperson responded to Trump’s insult by telling reporters on Sunday that Mayor Khan “has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump’s ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks urging Londoners not to be alarmed when they saw more police — including armed officers — on the streets.”

Right on schedule the Trumpster doubled down on his attacks on London Mayor Sadiq Khan this morning:

Remember, the Mayor of London is in the middle of a crisis. And our president is taking time to demean him?

Megyn Kelly Gets Tepid Reviews For Putin Interview

While I’m sure she got the ratings she wanted out of her debut on NBC last night, what Megyn Kelly didn’t get was anything of substance out of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

I’ll admit she did seem to ask the right questions, but got no where as Putin was very much in control of the interview throughout. She never seemed to have the right followup question ready, and Putin made sure to ridicule the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

“For me, this is just amazing. You created a sensation out of nothing,” Putin said. “And out of this sensation, you turned it into a weapon of war against the current president. Well, this is, you know, you’re just, you people are so creative over there. Good job. Your lives must be boring.”

Additionally, there were no questions regarding the rounding up and torture of gay men in Chechnya.

Just some of the reaction from Twitter:

Another cringe-worthy moment was when Kelly asked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi if he was on Twitter – he has over 30 million followers. She didn’t think to look that up?

Today is National Cancer Survivor’s Day

National Cancer Survivors Day is a celebration of life that is held in hundreds of communities nationwide and around the world every year on the first Sunday in June.

Participants unite in a symbolic event to show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be meaningful, productive, and even inspiring.

It is a day for everyone, whether you’re a cancer survivor, a family member, friend, or medical professional. This day provides an opportunity for all people living with a history of cancer – including America’s nearly 14 million cancer survivors – to connect with each other, celebrate milestones, and recognize those who have supported them along the way.

More info about NCSD at the official website.

Practically everyone is touched by cancer – either by your own diagnosis or that of a loved one.

It was 8 years ago that I had my own personal journey with cancer, and I’m healthy and strong today.  It’s important to let others know that a cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence and that we can kick cancer’s ass.

Celebrate!  More wine!

Tens Of Thousands March In Warsaw “Equality Parade”

(photo via Twitter)

While Poland’s government continues to deny any legal recognition of same-sex couples, organizers of the 17th annual ‘Equality Parade’ say 50,000 people showed up yesterday in an effort to “draw attention to the rights of LGBT people, fight discrimination and promote acceptance of same-sex unions.”

Via Deutsche Welle:

Poland’s constitution is one of seven in the EU to ban gay marriage and the country is one of six in the 28-member bloc not to allow same-sex civil unions. The ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party in Poland came to power in late 2015 on a ticket of promoting traditional Polish values, family and Catholic traditions.

Trump Criticizes London Mayor After Terror Attack, Mayor Slaps Back

Last night in London, three knife-wielding assailants unleashed a terror attack, the third major terrorist attack in the UK in three months.

Driving a white van, the three men killed seven and injured dozens driving across the London Bridge. They then left the van and entered the capital’s Borough Market with large hunting knives, slashing at patrons.

Within minutes, the police chased down the men and killed them.

In a statement, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said: “Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. There’s no reason to be alarmed. One of the things the police and all of us need to do is ensure that we’re as safe as we possibly can be.”

President Trump’s response to the terror attacks in London last night was to take aim at the city’s mayor and that statement.

As he has done often in the past, Trump took the Mayor’s statement out of context. The mayor wasn’t saying there was no need to be alarmed by the attacks. He was clearly saying to Londoners not to be alarmed by the increased police presence people will be seeing over the next few days.

Because that’s what the mayor needs right now, the president of another country criticizing him in the middle of a terror attack.

Can you imagine Prime Minister Theresa May chiding the mayors of Orlando or Boston after their horrible attacks?

A spokesman for the mayor responded to the tweet saying, “The Mayor is busy working with the police, emergency services and the government to coordinate the response to this horrific and cowardly terrorist attack and provide leadership and reassurance to Londoners and visitors to our city.”

He added that Mayor Khan “has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump’s ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks urging Londoners not to be alarmed when they saw more police — including armed officers — on the streets.”

Bolding is mine.

‘Wonder Woman’ Box Office Kills With $200+ Million Worldwide Opening

From Forbes.com:

Patty Jenkins is having the biggest opening weekend for a female director in cinema history.

Her superhero blockbuster Wonder Woman shattered the previous record for a female director by lassoing an estimated $100 million domestic and about the same cume in foreign markets.

By Friday, the film had already taken an estimated $86 million in worldwide box office, and predictions for the final weekend cume continue to rise as ticket sales continue to exceed expectations.

Added to the great box office news for Wonder Woman — indeed, no doubt driving that financial performance — is a 94% Certified Fresh critical reception and an A-grade from audiences via Cinemascore. The Rotten Tomatoes score means Wonder Woman is now tied with The Dark Knight and Iron Man as the best-reviewed superhero films in history, and the A Cinemascore is likewise on par with the highest-graded superhero films except The Avengers, which is the only superhero release to score a rare A+ from audiences.
