Ada Vox Slays On American Idol With Radiohead’s “Creep”

Last week I wrote about Ada Vox, the drag persona of Adam Sanders who competed in Season 12 of American Idol but didn’t make the cut.

But as Ada Vox, she is back and tearing it up. A few years older and definitely wiser, she killed last night with her cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.”

It may have been the best performance of the season thus far. Check out how the audience shares the love.

After the performance, Sanders met with the judges without drag garb, saying, “I wanted to face you all as myself without the guard. I wanted you all to see who I truly was.”

Said Lionel Richie to Sanders: “I’m glad you showed up in your true form because I want to tell your true self that the dynamic duo will be going forward.”

I’d be stunned if Ada doesn’t get into the Top 10.

Perez Hilton: No Dance Classes For My Son Because It “Might Make Him Gay”

Gay gossip guy Perez Hilton felt the need to respond to criticism after making homophobic comments that he made last week.

The 40-year-old blogger shared on his podcast last week that he wouldn’t be enrolling his 5-year-old son, Mario, in dance classes because most young boys who dance “end up being gay.” If he had his way, he’d prefer if his son was straight.

“I don’t think that’s a homophobic thing to say,” added Hilton, who’s said for years he was born gay. “Just like I don’t think it’s a homophobic thing to say that a disproportionate amount of male [actors] on Broadway are gay. There are more gay men drawn to that profession… That’s just a fact.”

“I think dance class might help make your son gay. Even though I believe I was born gay, I can reconcile having said that.”

Perez also asserts that he would go back and choose to be straight if he could.

“As a gay man, I’m not ashamed to be gay… but if I could go back in time and, when I was 18, be given a choice, I would have chosen then to be heterosexual… Being a gay man [around the world] is still a harder road to travel on.”

Perez did make a point to say he’d support Mario regardless of his sexuality: “If my son turns out to be gay, or if he’s already gay but not able to articulate that yet because he’s only 5, I will love my son unconditionally and support him. If my son is transgender, I will love him and support him unconditionally.”

I don’t think there’s any logical route where you can say you’re born gay and then turn around and believe dance classes can make you gay.
That makes as much sense as thinking eating Mexican food will help you learn Spanish.
I think you see a lot of gay men in the arts because they’re just drawn to that world. And I know plenty of straight men who are dancers and actors on Broadway.
Perez needs to “reconcile” a bit more of his own internalized homophobia. This is definitely not a message young LGBTs or their parents need to hear.

Video: Nyle DiMarco Teaches Curses Words In ASL


 Dancing with the Stars and America’s Next Top Model champ Nyle DiMarco says he gets tons of requests for an ASL tutorial in bad words.

Since I started making tutorial videos I’ve gotten so many requests to do a bad words video. I think curse words are some of the first things a lot of people learn when they are studying a new language. It’s something every language has in common. ASL especially can be more discrete and it’s the first thing hearing people always want to learn! I try not to take myself too seriously and had a lot of fun shooting this.

I met the “sexually fluid” deaf model/actor a couple of years ago when he was the celebrity guest host at Chippendales in Las Vegas. All the dancers and staff at Chipps made a point to learn some ASL to make Nyle as comfortable as possible.

As I understand, the Chipps were very interested in learning new sign language all the time. I’m guessing some of these got taught backstage… 🙂

First Person Sentenced In Connection To Special Counsel’s Probe

A Dutch lawyer tied to former Trump deputy campaign chairman Rick Gates who admitted to lying to special counsel Robert Mueller’s team was sentenced Tuesday to 30 days in prison and ordered to pay a $20,000 fine.

Alex van der Zwaan is the first person to be sentenced in Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
He pleaded guilty to lying to Mueller’s team in February and faced up to six months in prison.

Earlier Tuesday, Van der Zwaan’s attorneys begged for no jail time for their client, who mostly sat with pursed lips, slouched at the defense table.

He did say a few sentences of contrition that he read from a paper.

“What I did was wrong,” he uttered. He also apologized.

Van der Zwaan covered up his discussions with Gates and a business associate based in Ukraine in September 2016, while the Trump campaign operation was in full swing. He also admitted to lying to investigators about his failure to turn over email communications to the special counsel’s office and to his law firm as it cooperated with Mueller on its investigation of Gates’ and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s foreign lobbying.

NBC News is reporting that Robert Mueller does not need Dutch Lawyer Alex van der Zwaan to cooperate as its believed van der Zwaan has nothing to tell the Special Counsel.

As Pete Williams of NBC News says, “This was a punitive sentence to send the message that you can’t lie to the special counsel.”

Trump Calls U.S. Immigration Laws “An Obama Joke” So Here’s Some Obama Jokes For You

In that Donald Trump called the United States’ immigration laws “an Obama joke” on Twitter today, Dan Pfeiffer (former Obama senior adviser) took us on a trip on the way-back machine to 2012 when the Trumpeter attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and Barack served up a few jokes to The Donald.

Let’s sit back and enjoy, shall we? When Obama turned his jokes to The Donald, apparently DJT became very uncomfortable. You’ll note he doesn’t laugh at all in the video below.

Some say this was the moment he decided to seriously consider a run for president.

John Oliver Takes On The Sinclair Broadcasting Group’s “Must-Runs”

This weekend, I wrote about Sinclair Broadcasting Group’s chilling “must-run” editorials wherein we
saw dozens of local news anchors reading the same op-ed but delivered as if it was a local anchor’s opinion.

HBO’s Last Week Tonight addressed the growing story, and John Oliver’s take is spot on:

“Yeah. Nothing says ‘we value independent media’ like dozens of reporters forced to repeat the same message over and over again like members of a brainwashed cult. I guess what I’m saying here, Sinclair, is that as a news organization, I believe you make no sense.”

“When you see just how many local stations were forced to read it and you watch them together, as many have been doing online in the last couple of days, you begin to realize the true effect of Sinclair’s reach and power.”

Trump Attacks Amazon – Stock Market Drops 600+ Points

Great.

So. Much. Winning.

Shares of Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) fell 6 percent on Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump again attacked the online retailer over the pricing of its deliveries through the United States Postal Service and promised unspecified changes.

“Only fools, or worse, are saying that our money losing Post Office makes money with Amazon,” Trump tweeted.

“They lose a fortune, and this will be changed. Also, our fully tax paying retailers are closing stores all over the country…not a level playing field!”

Shares of the company were down 5.9 percent at $1,362.48, wiping out nearly $45 billion from its market value.

Of course, you know Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, also owns The Washington Post which Donald Trump hates for their reporting.

Out NBA Exec Rick Welts Named To The Basketball Hall Of Fame

Openly gay NBA executive Rick Welts, currently the Golden State Warriors president, has been elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame

Welts is the first openly gay man to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Welts is the first openly gay man to be elected to the Hall of Fame, an incredible and historic feat. He has been in the NBA in some capacity since 1969 and served as the league’s Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer from 1996-1999. He is created with the early building and marketing of the Dream Team and the WNBA.

Welts came out in 2011 and blazed the trail for other openly gay front office members in the league. After coming out, Welts resigned from his position with the Phoenix Suns to become the Warriors president, and the team has won two championships since he joined the team.
