Cher in “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”

This might be something of a #FBF that’s looking forward as we finally get a chance to check out Cher’s full duet of ABBA’s “Fernando,” from the Mamma Mia 2 soundtrack.

Singing with actor Andy Garcia (woof!) on the track — the diva does exactly what she was brought in to do and takes the iconic 1980 song to ‘Cher Land.’

This marks the third track to be released in advance of Mamma Mia 2 hitting theaters on July 20.

Previously we’ve gotten a listen to “Waterloo” by Hugh Skinner and Lily James, and “When I Kissed the Teacher” featuring James, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Alexa Davies and Celia Imrie.

The original Mamma Mia flick received mixed reviews from critics, but audiences loved it the musical mashup. The film scored a huge $615 million based on a $52 million budget, and became the 5th highest-grossing film of 2008.

So, get ready for July 20 when Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Christine Baranski, Stellan Skarsgård, Dominic Cooper and Julie Walters all return for the musical antics.

‘Roseanne’ Out – ‘The Connors’ In

The cast of ‘The Connors’

ABC officially announced its canceled series Roseanne will continue on this fall as The Conners with a 10-episode straight-to-series order set to premiere this fall on Tuesdays at 8PM, the series’ former timeslot.

“The Conners’ stories demonstrate that families can always find common ground through conversation, laughter and love,” said the statement from ABC. “The spinoff will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago.”

The press release also included, “Roseanne Barr will have no financial or creative involvement in the new series.”

You may recall Roseanne was canceled in May after Barr posted a racist tweet about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett.

Shortly after ABC’s announcement this evening, Barr issued her own statement:

“I regret the circumstances that have caused me to be removed from Roseanne. I agreed to the settlement in order that 200 jobs of beloved cast and crew could be saved, and I wish the best for everyone involved.”

The Conners cast, including Sara Gilbert (as Darlene), John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Lecy Goranson (Becky) and Michael Fishman (DJ), soon followed up with a joint statement:

“We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience.

“We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter.”

While the network hasn’t addressed how Roseanne will depart the show, it appear as though her character is being killed off.

From the official synopsis:

“After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. This iconic family — Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. — grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. Through it all, the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns – with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.”

Washington Post: National Enquirer Sent Trump Articles To Be Approved By Michael Cohen

The National Enquirer regularly sent articles and cover images relating to Donald Trump to his then-attorney, Michael Cohen, before publishing the items for approval.

In a late breaking story tonight, The Washington Post is reporting the National Enquirer regularly sent articles and cover images relating to Donald Trump to his then-attorney, Michael Cohen, before publishing the items for approval.

Via The Washington Post:

Although the company strongly denies ever sharing such material before publication, these three individuals say the sharing of material continued after Trump took office.

“Since Trump’s become president and even before, [Pecker] openly just has been willing to turn the magazine and the cover over to the Trump machine,” said one of the people with knowledge of the practice.

During the campaign, “if it was a story specifically about Trump, then it was sent over to Michael, and as long as there were no objections from him, the story could be published,” this person added.

The stories sent for approval were either about Trump or his political foes.

While unusual, the news is an interesting commentary on the special relationship between Trump and David Pecker, chief executive of American Media Inc., the Enquirer’s parent company.

Jury Awards Gay Man $18.4 Million In Cancelled HIV Test Lawsuit

After doctors canceled an HIV test during his treatment, a gay man was awarded $18.4 million by a jury

In 2007, Sean Stentiford consented to an HIV test while being treated for facial paralysis at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts.

According to The Boston Globe, he agreed to the testing after a resident at the hospital told him his symptoms were ‘highly suggestive’ of HIV infection.

His neurologist, Dr. Kinan K. Hreib, disagreed and cancelled the test writing in Stentiford’s file that there was “no risk of HIV,” despite the fact that he was gay and had worked as a paramedic earlier in his life.

The Centers for Disease Control recommend sexually active gay men be tested for HIV at least once a year. Going back to 2006, Stentiford’s medical records reflected that he was a gay man.

Although blood tests were performed, the HIV test was removed from the list without telling Stentiford.

Stentiford visited his primary care doctor, Dr. Stephen E. Southard, in June of 2007 where he was told his tests “looked good.”

At that point in time, having signed a release form for the test (in the presence of his sister), Stentiford believed the HIV test had been performed.

Three years later, his condition had worsened. It was at that time he learned the HIV blood test hadn’t been performed and that he was, indeed, HIV positive.

By that time, the disease had advanced to full-blown AIDS as he battled brain damage and cognitive impairment.

After an 8-day trial in U.S. District Court, a jury found both Dr. Hreib and Dr. Stephen Southard guilty of negligence which caused Stentiford harm.

A third physician was also found to be negligent but hadn’t caused him harm.

On Monday, the jury awarded Stentiford, now 48 years-old, $18.4 million in damages.

Now living in the Bronx, Stentiford no longer suffers from HIV/AIDS-related symptoms due to modern medications and treatment.

First Lady Wears “I Don’t Really Care, Do U?” Jacket Traveling To Visit Immigrant Children

File this under “You can’t make this shit up:”

According to several reports and photos, First Lady Melania Trump boarded her plane to travel visit children separated from their parents at the U.S. southern border wearing a jacket that read on the back, “I don’t really care, do u?”

Did I mention the weather was 85 degrees and humid in Washington, D.C. today? Hardly ‘jacket weather.’

By the time the plane landed, the First Lady had done a costume change.

It’s not known if the change was planned or if someone pointed out the unfortunate messaging.

It’s notable that the First Lady was scheduled to visit TWO shelters – an HHS shelter that she made it to, and one of the shelters holding children in those now-infamous ‘cages.’

She didn’t make it to the second. Quel surprise.

UPDATE: The First Lady’s spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, told CNN’s Jim Acosta, “It’s a jacket. There was no hidden message. After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn’t going to choose to focus on her wardrobe.”

But then the Trumpster himself had to step in it and say the exact opposite – that there was, in fact, a hidden meaning.

President Trump tweeted: “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!”

Did Someone Leave ‘The Jerry Springer Show’ On All These Years?

Apparently, The Jerry Springer Show has been airing for all these years? Who knew?

I know I didn’t.

But after 27 seasons and 4,000 episodes, the long-running daytime talkshow which gave us wild-ass paternity test result reactions, stripper interviews, catfights and chairs tossed across the studio at guests has gone quietly into the good night.

The Associated Press reports NBC Universal quietly made the decision to shut down production.

For a show known for loud and wild antics, it’s ironic to see the series do anything “quietly.”

Premiering in 1991, the show began life as a serious ‘issues-oriented’ show with former Cincinnati mayor Jerry Springer handling host duties. What happened from there – we all know.

The show became so legendary that an opera was written and produced about it in London.

“I just do it because it’s fun to do,” Springer told ET in 2016. “And I’m not that good at golf. I think I’d go crazy [if I retired]. I’m always afraid not to be working. It’s psychological, I’m sure. If I ever have nightmares about something, it’s about not having a job, which is crazy, I know.”

Are you shocked the show has been cancelled? Or shocked it was still on the air?

House Republicans Fail To Pass Their Own Immigration Bill

Lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives failed today to pass their more extreme immigration bill by a vote of 193-231.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan says he will not bring a more narrowly tailored bill to the floor for a vote.

But with Donald Trump’s recent executive order addressing family separations at the border possibly being challenged in courts, Ryan may have to rethink that position.

It’s still possible that a solution might be found in the Senate where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has signaled he would consider emergency legislation on the issue.

All 49 Democratic Senators have signed on in support of a bill they’ve crafted that would legally put an end to the family separations but it’s doubtful McConnell would embrace the legislation.

Here’s the report from CBSN below.
