Naked reality show coming your way from Discovery Channel

And I do mean NAKED.

Discovery channel’s newest show, Naked and Afraid,” has participants surviving in nature with nothing but their birthday suits.

And get this: there’s NO prize. Participants (can’t say “contestants” because it doesn’t really seem to be a contest) take part “for the experience.”

What do you think? Would you head out into the wild for 21 days with no clothes, food or shelter? For no kind of reward at all?

Chandler Massey wins 2nd Daytime Emmy for “coming out” storyline on Days Of Our Lives

Chandler Massey snatched his second consecutive Outstanding Young Actor Daytime Emmy for his role as gay teen Will Horton on Days of Our Lives on Sunday.

He beat out his on-air boyfriend Sonny Kiriakis, played by Freddie Smith, who Massey called a “phenomenal” actor and person. Massey’s win last year marked the first time an actor won for portraying a gay character, while this year he won for Will Horton’s coming-out storyline, seen above.

Visibility of gay characters helps improve the support the LGBT community receives from the rest of the world.  An Ipsos poll for Reuters shows in countries and communities where people knew someone gay, support was higher and more broad.  In countries where gays and lesbians hide due to shame or fear, acceptance dropped dramatically.

Straight allies for the Freedom To Marry

Today, Freedom to Marry and OutServe-SLDN released a new video featuring three prominent straight allies in the military speaking out in support of gay and lesbian servicemembers and their spouses. The allies explain how they have seen their friends and co-workers hurt by the so-called Defense of Marriage Act, the law that prohibits federal respect for marriages between legally married same-sex couples.

Included in this new video are Retired Rear Admiral Jamie Barnett, Army Major Mary Bergner, and former Congressman and Army Captain Patrick Murphy.

“What a tremendous day when ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ was repealed,” Retired Rear Admiral Barnett says in the video. “The challenge now is not letting anybody think that it’s over. There’s still law that embeds discrimination.

Gay couples married by Belgian mayor via Google Hangouts

From the folks at Google:

Google Hangouts is a unique technology allowing 10 people to be on a video call simultaneously.

We wanted to put Google +’s hangouts at the service of a greater cause – the most debated issue in France at the time: same-sex marriage.

We partnered with the association “Tous Unis Pour l’Egalité” and created the first social same-sex marriage.

We made it possible for French gay couples to get married in France via Hangout, with a Mayor from Belgium where same-sex marriage is law. The ceremony was witnessed online by family and friends and broadcasted live on YouTube for the whole world to see.

Since then, the law has passed in France. It’s now possible for same sex couples to marry in France. But we still have a long way to go as we take this initiative further than France.

If your country is still deliberating the Bill and the Law is not yet passed, please be in touch with us : mariage@tousunispourlegalite.com and we will marry you, from France, live on the Internet via Google Hangouts.

Poland: First openly gay MP attacked after Gay Pride parade

Poland’s first openly gay MP Robert Biedron was the victim of a homophobic attack after a Gay Pride parade on Saturday in Warsaw.

From Polskie Radio:

Biedron said that the attack took place in a cafe in central Warsaw where the MP was relaxing with a group of friends following the march.

“An aggressive man insulted us, using homophobic statements. He began to choke one of my friends and punched him in the face. “When he recognized me he spat in my face, raised his fists and and kicked me in the stomach,” the MP said.

According to Biedron, the assailant then ran away but was arrested shortly afterwards.

Meanwhile, Biedron noted that the march itself had been considerably less problematic this year. The MP stressed that there were no signs of stones or bottles being thrown at marchers on Saturday, in contrast to some previous occasions.

Joe Manganiello on the cover of MEN’S HEALTH

Joe Manganiello, leading man and werewolf for the hit series True Blood, shares some tips (and shirtless pics) in the July/August issue of Men’s Health Magazine.

In the accompanying article, Joe mentions that he works out twice a day six days a week.

However, that wasn’t always the case.  After appearing in 2002’s Spiderman, his bad habits at the time (two packs of cigarettes and a bottle of whisky a day) caught up to him and he lost his  home, car and agents.  While kicking those bad habits, he worked as a delivery man and construction worker.

And now we get the demi-god that is Joe Manganiello.

Check magazine stands for your copy of Men’s Health to find out how Joe develops those biceps and triceps.

Neil Patrick Harris will star in Broadway debut of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Playbill reports that Neil Patrick Harris will star in the Broadway premiere of Hedwig and the Angry Inch next year.

“I am simultaneously ecstatic and terrified to be stepping into Hedwig’s heels,” NPH said in a statement. “It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime role and I can’t wait to begin the journey.”

The new adaptation of the musical comedy will star NPH as Hedwig, the fictional transgender rock ‘n’ roll singer-turned-cult-phenomenon after John Cameron Mitchell originated the role both on stage and in film.

John Cameron Mitchell gives his personal blessing saying “Who better to pass the wig to but the finest entertainer of his generation?”, he said in a statement.
