Markwayne Mullin’s DHS Confirmation Hearing Gets Crunchy Fast

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) pulled no punches in his opening statement at today’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmation hearing for Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK).

Trump nominated Mullin to replace outgoing DHS Sec. Kristi Noem, who hits the doors on March 31.

Paul, who’s the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, opened the hearing calling out Mullin for past remarks saying he “understands completely” why Paul was savagely attacked in his own front yard by a neighbor in 2017. Joe Kent, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, resigned Tuesday over objections to the war in Iran. He’s the first senior Trump administration official to do so.

“I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran,” wrote Kent in a letter to Donald Trump.

Trump Rages After NATO Allies Didn’t Jump Into Iran War

Donald Trump is crashing out on Truth Social after European allies weren’t gung-ho to jump into the Iran war he started without consulting with them and is deeply unpopular in their countries.

With global shipping and energy prices upended by Iran’s effective shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump has been trying to enlist naval support from other nations.

Cornyn Gets Owned By Democrat On TSA Funding

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) got owned big-time by Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX) at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport today.

Cornyn had announced he was showing up for a bit of performative showboating to deliver burgers to TSA agents working without pay during the current partial shutdown. His goal was to shift blame onto Democrats in Congress blocking a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security (which includes TSA).
