Highlights From 2026 Oscars + Where Was Sean Penn? + More News

Some news stories for you as we head into the week:

Queerty: Round-up of the gayest moments from this year’s Oscars, from Channing Tatum’s glittery thong to a surprise gay kiss for one of the night’s big winners (Andy Jurgensen for Best Editing above). The highlight for me was the gorgeous performance of “I Lied To You” from Sinners. Full list of all the winners here.

Variety: Sean Penn won his 3rd Academy Award last night for Best Supporting Actor in “One Battle After Another,” but was the only winner to not attend the festivities. He was absent because he was meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

OUT: Harry Styles threw in a same-sex kiss at the end of his opening monologue for SNL this weekend that circled around queerbaiting allegations made against him.

Gayest Thing Today: Health and Human Services Sec. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. posted an AI-generated video of himself, stripped to the waist, wrestling a guy dressed as a giant Twinkie.

First of all, RFK really leaned into some AI buff-ness here, huh? And did no one tell him “twinkie” is queer slang for young gays…?

Washington Post: The number of U.S. troops who have been wounded or injured during the U.S.-Israeli campaign against Iran now exceeds 200 across seven countries, according to a U.S. military spokesman.

X: Donald Trump told reporters today he may be “taking Cuba in some form” soon. “I think I can do anything I want with it, if you want to know the truth.”
