High School Musicians Perform ‘A Mother Of A Revolution’ After It Was Banned By School Board

Watertown High School students perform "A Mother of a Revolution" after the composition was banned from their Spring concert

My favorite thing today – members of the Watertown High School Wind Symphony in Watertown, Wisconsin, were joined by school alumni and community musicians to perform the instrumental piece “A Mother of a Revolution” on Wednesday night.

World-renowned composer Omar Thomas wrote the piece in 2019 to honor LGBTQ+ activist Marsha P. Johnson and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. Johnson, a Black transgender woman, became a leader of the gay rights movement.

Even though the high school students rehearsed the piece all year, the composition was pulled from the Wind Symphony’s spring concert just days before the performance after some school board members called the piece “indoctrination – because god forbid high school students learn a snippet of LGBTQ history… Continue reading “High School Musicians Perform ‘A Mother Of A Revolution’ After It Was Banned By School Board”

8 House Dems Vote With Republicans To Approve ‘Forced Outing’ At Schools

The House of Representatives has passed a bill that would force public school teachers to out transgender students to their parents.

Colorado Democrats Censure Gov. Polis Over Tina Peters

Colorado Democrats voted Wednesday to censure Gov. Jared Polis, a fellow Democrat, for commuting the prison sentence of former county clerk Tina Peters, who had been serving nine years in state prison after being convicted of tampering with voting systems.

Peters was convicted in 2024 of four felony and three misdemeanor charges related to a breach of voting systems after she used another person’s security badge to grant access to someone associated Trump-supporting election deniers. • New Music: DJ Bill Bennett (above) hit #1 on iTunes Pre-Orders chart over the weekend with DILF Act 3, the final installment of his DILF trilogy. As I’ve written in the past, I’m so impressed by Bennett’s gorgeous music production as well as his compelling story-telling based on his own life experiences.
