Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis, known for playing world-weary and wise characters, has passed away at the age of 89. After decades of stage work on the East Coast, Dukakis shot to stardom playing Cher’s mother in the film adaptation of John Patrick Shanley’s Moonstruck in 1987. The following year she took home the Oscar and Golden Globe honors for Best Supporting Actress in a Film. More from the New York Times:

She played a catty Southern widow in the mostly female ensemble cast of “Steel Magnolias” (1989); the mother of Kirstie Alley’s character in the three “Look Who’s Talking” movies (1989-93); the pot-growing transgender San Francisco landlord Anna Madrigal, from 1993 to 2019, in the four television mini-series made from Armistead Maupin’s “Tales of the City” stories; and Frank Sinatra’s mother, Dolly, in the 1992 television movie “Sinatra.”

Despite the awards and her other screen successes, Ms. Dukakis never gave up theater work. In 2011 she starred in an Off Broadway production of Tennessee Williams’s “The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore.”

Charles Isherwood, reviewing her performance in The Times, called her “macabre, hilarious and weirdly touching,” with a “bullying bravado that commands attention.” The next year she played Prospero (Prospera, actually) in “The Tempest” for Shakespeare & Company in Massachusetts.

Rest in peace Olympia Dukakis.

Woofy Colombian recording star Maluma brought the heat to his Instagram yesterday when he threw down a video showing off his arm workout and more. Grinding out his final bicep curls, the blond 27-year-old was serving up sweat and abs. And let’s face it, Colombia can get preeeeety humid, so ditching the shirt was a good move (especially for his fans). File this under ‘Act like a fool, get treated like a fool.’ I don’t advocate violence against anyone, but I see why some folks could relate to this viral video bopping around social media showing an encounter between an anti-mask protester and a cyclist in Vancouver. According to CTV, anti-mask provocateur Alex Lasarev (who apparently spends a good amount of time acting out against healthcare guidance) was shouting his garbage via a megaphone from the window of a moving vehicle. But then a cyclist – who’s clearly had enough of Lasarev’s assholery – approaches the vehicle and begins to beat the car with his bicycle. Ultimately, the cyclist ends up smashing the passenger window. In February, Lasarev took cellphone video of while heckling employees of Kerrisdale Cameras after they refused to serve him because he wouldn’t wear a mask. Vancouver Police are recommending charges of mischief and assault with a weapon against the cyclist. Here’s the video clip. As you can see, some folks are cheering the cyclist even as they denounce the violence.

Monday ManCrush: Zac Efron Served Up Serious Abs On Instagram

After taking time off from Instagram for a couple of months, Zac Efron had his followers gagging thanks to a thirst trap he posted over the weekend.

The body-conscious actor is currently in Australia with his brother Dylan  shooting the second season of his Netflix series Down to Earth with Zac Efron.

The show follows Zac traveling around the world exploring healthy sustainable ways to live.

And speaking of healthy and sustainable, the hunky 33-year-old shared pics taken during a workout featuring Bombas socks which donates a pair to charity for every pair purchased. (By the way, Bombas socks are the only socks I wear – they’re awesome).

But, as journalists like to say, it looks like he ‘buried the lede.’

The first photo is nice and all – form, flexibility, yeahyeahyeah… 

But some folks didn’t notice to swipe to the next pic which features Efron’s pretty awesome abs.

A couple of weeks ago, Efron shared a video clip of him getting ‘up close and personal’ swimming with the dolphins. And the Efron bod was truly pumped.

Efron famously beefed up a few years ago for his role in the 2017 big screen version of Baywatch, but later told PEOPLE that in hindsight he felt the amount of working out and nutritional limits to get there were not “a healthy or normal way to live everyday life.” Since that time, he’s brought his fitness goals a little more down to earth.

And speaking of ‘down to earth,’ the film and TV star has also recently posted pics from Oz with an adorable baby kangaroo, driving a huge tractor and taking part in what looks like an Indigenous ceremony.

During his time Down Under, Zac also filmed the survivor thriller Gold in Australia to help him maintain his work visa there from its original 3 month limit to 12 months.
