Target launches Gay Pride 2012 T-shirt line


In a partnership with the Family Equality Council, Minneapolis=based retailer Target is selling a line of Gay Pride-themed T-shirts online this year, which grew out of “a grass-roots effort among employees and the company’s LGBTA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allies) Business Council”, according to a Target spokeswoman.

Ten T-shirts are now featured on Target’s website with gay-friendly themes. Two feature a design by rocker Gwen Stefani, who has her own line of kids’ hipster clothing called Harajuku Mini at Target. The Stefani design reads, “Love is love.” Each Pride T-shirt sells for $12.99, all of which will be donated to the Family Equality Council. Donations are capped at $120,000.

Just two years ago, Target was under fire for its donations to MN Forward, a Republican PAC supporting anti-gay candidate Tom Emmer.

Members stand behind pastor’s anti-gay sermon

Parishioners of Pastor Charles L. Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church support his view that gays deserve to be killed.

Quoting the Bible, Worley’s flock tell reporters they fully support him and that gays should be killed. Worley twice this month called for the mass murder of the world’s homosexuals by airlifting and dropping all “lesbians” and all “queers and homosexuals” into an electrified fenced-in area so they can die out.

“So he had every right to say what he said, about putting them in a pen, feeding them. The Bible says they’re worthy of death. He only preaches the word,” says Geneva Sims of the Pastor’s plan to kill gay people. Sims is a parishioner of Pastor Worley and fully supports him.

Another supporter, Stacey Pritchard says, “Sometimes you gotta be scared straight.”

Today is Harvey Milk Day

Today is “Harvey Milk Day,” a day of honor for the slain gay rights activist, which is officially recognized by the State of California and celebrated worldwide. Milk was one of the first openly gay politicians to be elected to public office when he won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977. He and Mayor George Moscone were shot and killed by former Supervisor Dan White at City Hall on Nov. 27, 1978. While Milk served only 11 months in office, he was responsible for passing a stringent gay rights ordinance for the city. The ordinance extended employment protections to gays and lesbians in San Francisco, and became a model for anti-discrimination legislation throughout California and the nation. In 1978, Milk campaigned across the state of California against Proposition 6, also known as the Briggs Initiative. Had it passed, Proposition 6 would have banned gays and lesbians, and possibly anyone who supported gay rights, from working in California’s public schools. The proposition was defeated in the November 1978 election in part because Milk successfully appealed to Californians’ basic sense of fairness. Despite his short career in politics, Milk became an icon in San Francisco and a martyr for gay rights, and has been referred to as “the most famous and most significantly open LGBT official ever elected in the United States.” Legislation designating Milk’s birthday, May 22, as a day of “special significance” in California, was passed in the state legislature in 2009 and signed into law by then-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 2009, Milk was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama. Later that year, Milk was inducted into the California Hall of Fame. Anderson Cooper cuts Botox Mother’s interview short

Anderson Cooper was talking to a mother on the “Human Barbie” episode who helps her daughter administer Botox so she doesn’t sweat. There was discussion of Beyoncé sweating or not — as if the diva was a defense.

But Anderson was having none of it. He paused, looked at the woman and said “I try to be polite to all of my guests, but I think you’re dreadful. And I honestly don’t want to talk to you anymore,” the talk show host said.

And that was that.

Carol Channing: Larger Than Life available today on DVD

“Carol Channing: Larger Than Life,” the feature-film documentary about the life of Tony-winning Hello, Dolly! star Carol Channing, is released on DVD by Entertainment One today, May 22nd.

Movie: New James Bond film trailer – “Skyfall”

It might surprise some Randy Report readers that I really like James Bond movies, or maybe it won’t…

The first SKYFALL trailer was released, giving fans all over the world a thrilling glimpse of the 23rd James Bond adventure. SKYFALL will be in cinemas in the UK from October 26th, 2012 and in US theatres from November 9th.

I never miss James Bond movies because:

Anderson Cooper: Guests denounce anti-gay rant by NC Pastor Charles Worley


Rev. Welton Gaddy, President of Interfaith Alliance joined Anderson Cooper to discuss Pastor Charles L. Worley, whose sermon, which we posted yesterday, suggested gays and lesbians be rounded up, put in electrified pens, and let them die.

Said Gaddy of Worley:

“In one fell swoop this angry minister managed to discredit from his pulpit both the Constitution of the United States and the compassion that we find in the bible, and additionally he did a very dangerous thing by planting seeds of hatred in sick minds that in the right circumstances can act on them and do the kind of violence that has no place in our world.”

In additional news, Catawba Valley Citizens Against Hate are nto happy about the Pastor’s message, and have organized a protest on Sunday at 10 am:

We are organizing a PEACEFUL protest against Pastor Worley’s bigoted and hate filled rhetoric. Regardless if you are gay or straight, Christian or not… this rhetoric is dangerous and harmful. Taking a peaceful stand for our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is paramount.
