North Carolina Pastor Calls For Death of ‘Queers & Homosexuals’


In a sermon blasting President Obama for his same-sex marriage support, Pastor Charles L. Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, North Carolina, offered his own solution to the so-called gay scourge: build an electric fence and let “lesbians, queers and homosexuals” starve to death.

“I figured a way to get rid of all the lesbians and queers,” he says in his sermon, delivered on May 13. “Build a great, big, large fence — 150 or 100 mile long — put all the lesbians in there. Do the same thing for the queers and the homosexuals and have that fence electrified so they can’t get out. And you know what, in a few years, they’ll die.”

Worley fails to understand that gay people are born, not made, and that there would just be more LGBT folk coming down the line.

He also stated that if he’s asked who he’ll vote for, he’ll reply, “I’m not going to vote for a baby killer and a homosexual lover.”

The not-so-holy man concludes, “God have mercy. It makes me pukin’ sick to think about — I don’t even whether or not to say this in the pulpit — can you imagine kissing some man?”

Throughout the sermon, many of his congregants can be heard calling out “Amen.”

Dharun Ravi sentenced to 30 days in jail, 3 years probation

Taking into account his lack of a prior arrest record and the unlikeness that he will re-offend, today a New Jersey judged sentenced former Rutgers student Drarun Ravi to only 30 days in jail and probation in the case of the suicide of his gay roommate Tyler Clementi.

The probation period is three years and includes 300 hours of community service. Ravi has also been fined $11,950 which is to be paid in monthly installments.  The judge also recommends that Ravi will not be deported.

Robin Gibb dead at 62

MSNBC is reporting a family member has given a statement that Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, has passed away at the age of 62.

“The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery,” reads the statement. “The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”

Two years ago, Gibb battled colon and liver cancer, but despite making what he called a “spectacular recovery,” a secondary tumor recently developed, complicated by a case of pneumonia.

Kirsty Mitchell’s late mother Maureen was an English teacher who spent her life inspiring generations of children with imaginative stories and plays. Following Maureen’s death from a brain tumour in 2008, Kirsty channelled her grief into her passion for photography.

She retreated behind the lens of her camera and created Wonderland, an ethereal fantasy world. The photographic series began as a small summer project but grew into an inspirational creative journey.

‘Real life became a difficult place to deal with, and I found myself retreating further into an alternative existence through the portal of my camera,’ said the artist.

NAACP officially supports same-sex marriage

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, one of the nation’s oldest civil rights organizations, is officially supporting marriage for same-sex couples.

The 103-year-old organization’s resolution may help garner support for gay marriage among black voters, who according to polls have been less inclined than whites to support same-sex marriage.

At a meeting Saturday in Miami, the board of directors of the NAACP passed a resolution endorsing marriage equality.

“Civil marriage is a civil right and a matter of civil law,” NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous said in a statement. “The NAACP’s support for marriage equality is deeply rooted in the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution and equal protection of all people.”

I have no problem with people getting wealthy.  I love it!  I want everyone to get wealthy. 

But here’s the issue – why has the top 1% grown so much and yet the middle class lags behind?  If you listen to conservatives, tax cuts for the “job creators” (top income folks) creates jobs and prosperity.  And yet, it’s not.

Here’s why – trickle down economics doesn’t work.  Give tax cuts to the wealthy and they aren’t creating jobs.  The Bush tax cuts (now the Obama tax cuts) have been in place for over ten years.  Where are the jobs? 

In the coming election, you’re going to hear over and over again how the GOP can create more jobs than President Obama and the Democrats.  However – Bloomberg studied the past 50 years of U.S. job creation, under Democratic and Republican presidents. The facts: For the near half-century following the Kennedy administration, Democrats created nearly twice as many private-sector jobs as Republicans. Even though Democrats held the presidency for only 23 years compared with 28 years of Republican rule.

Private-sector payrolls increased by 42 million jobs under Democratic administrations, and 24 million under Republican ones. That’s an average of 150,000 new paychecks a month under Democrats and 71,000 per month under Republicans.

And then there’s the fact that investments do better under Dems.  Bloomberg analyzed the data. Investing $1,000 in a hypothetical fund that tracks the Standard & Poor’s 500 index over the past 50 years would have returned $10,920 when Democrats held the White House. The return when Republicans were in power? $2,087.
 
So when you hear how Romney and the GOP are going to do “so much better” than President Obama, just remember: past is prologue.
