Las Vegas: Club owner hopes to open “the largest gay nightclub in the world”

The owner of Las Vegas gay nightclub Krave is looking to open what he says will be “the largest gay nightclub in the world.”

In the former 14-screen, 80,000-square-foot Galaxy 11 multiplex movie theater on the third floor of Neonopolis, on the northwest corner of Fremont Street and Las Vegas Boulevard, Krave owner Kelly Murphy said he expected to open the “world’s largest gay nightclub,” calling it Krave Massive, in December.

Plans call for a main dance floor, a hip-hop room, a Latin room, country-western room, space for gay comedy club (Tickled Pink), space for a performing arts center, a movie theater and martini lounge.

The opening of Krave Massive will precipitate a closing of the existing Krave nightclub, Murphy said.

CO: Aurora shooter sent notebook with plans of massacre to psychiatrist

James Holmes, the suspect in the Aurora movie theater shooting that left 12 dead and 58 injured, mailed planned details of his rampage to a University of Colorado psychiatrist before the July 20 attack, Fox News reports.

But according to a law enforcement source, the unopened package sat in a mailroom for as long as a week before it was discovered on Monday, July 23.

Police and FBI agents were called to the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus on Monday after the psychiatrist (who is also a professor at the school) reported receiving a package believed to be from Holmes.

Upon opening it, a notebook documenting the chilling details of Holmes’s planned attack was discovered, according to the Fox report.

“There were drawings of what he was going to do in it – drawings and illustrations of the massacre,” the source told Fox News.

The source added that the package had been in the mailroom since July 12, but it is unclear why it had not been delivered to the psychiatrist earlier.

It is unknown whether the psychiatrist had any prior contact with Holmes.

Mitt Romney wrongly claims Colorado shooter illegally obtained weapons

Mitt Romney gets it wrong – again.

Earlier today, Mitt claimed that alleged gunman in the Aurora, Colorado massacare, James Holmes, illegally obtained his weapons, when in fact Holmes legally purchased the firearms through various national gun chains.

According to a transcript of an interview that will air Wednesday night on NBC Nightly News, the presidential candidate said “it was illegal for him to have many of those [weapons] already,” and suggested that stronger gun laws would not have prevented the tragedy. Instead, Romney claimed that the way to deal with such senseless violence is by “changing the heart of the American people”:

ROMNEY: Well this person shouldn’t have had any kind of weapons and bombs and other devices and it was illegal for him to have many of those things already. But he had them. And so we can sometimes hope that just changing the law will make all bad things go away. It won’t. Changing the heart of the American people may well be what’s essential, to improve the lots of the American people.

In fact, 24-year-old Holmes legally purchased every firearm, bullet, and piece of tactical gear that he used for the attack, according to local law enforcement. He bought most of it over the Internet. The laws of the US made it all possible and legal.

Gerald McCullouch of “BearCity 2” on The Candi & Randy Show

 

Sexy and talented Gerald McCullouch joined us on The Candi & Randy Show last night to talk about his new movie “BearCity 2” – the sequel to the hit movie “BearCity.”

 The Francisco Examiner had this to say about the new film: “BearCity 2” is the sequel that “Sex and the City 2″ wished it was.”

And Andrew Sullivan of The Daily Beast blog said: “It’s not gay-funny; it’s just funny. And oddly moving. It has characters you actually come to care about a bit; and it’s one of the first movies to explore what marriage equality is doing to gay culture.”

The movie plays at The Castro in San Francisco on Sunday at 11:30, 2:00, 4:30, 7:00 and 9:25. And it will also screen on September 15 in Oslo, Norway in the Oslo LGBT International Film Festival, where the first film, BearCity, won the Audience Award for best feature film.

Gerald is well-known to TV audiences, especially for his long-running role in the hit TV show CSI as “Bobby Dawson” (the gun expert). Last year, he starred in the Los Angeles premiere of the hit play DADDY which is now being developed as a feature film.

San Diego Pride responds to GOP issues with uniformed servicemembers at Pride event

Yesterday, Congressional Republicans challenged Defense Secretary Leon Panetta to explain why the Defense Department allowed active-duty troops to wear their uniforms while marching in San Diego’s gay pride parade last weekend.

Today, San Diego Pride responds:

The promise of America grounded in the Constitution, contained in our Pledge of Allegiance, inscribed on the Statue of Liberty and enunciated by generations of our nation’s leaders is that America stands for liberty, for justice, for equality for all. This has been America’s Pride.

To honor all servicemembers without regard to their sexual orientation is commendable, to pursue the United States’ value of equality is honorable, and to support those actions is genuinely American.

The mission statement of San Diego LGBT pride is fostering pride in and respect for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities, locally, nationally, and globally. It is with great pride and distinction we pursue that mission, and we were honored to do so last Saturday at San Diego’s Pride themed America’s pride.

We fully support, agree with, and respect the decision by Defense Secretary Leo Panetta, and hope that this is just another step on the road to equality.

Virgin America goes “Bananas” for new uniforms

Virgin America is giving its entire human fleet — from pilots and airport crew to in-flight “teammates” — a makeover with sleek new uniforms designed by Banana Republic.

The new “utility chic” get-ups, which debut August 8, are built around Virgin America’s existing black, gray and red palette. For men they’ll feature slim-fit shirts, flat-front trousers, striped-sleeve cardigans and lambskin leather jackets, with studly black leather gloves and gold-rimmed aviator shades for accessories.

“The new uniforms mark the joint efforts of Virgin America and Banana Republic to elevate the style quotient of everyday work-wear,” says a spokesperson for the airline.

As a young boy in Texas, I remember Pucci and Halston designing outfits for Braniff airlines in the 1960s and ’70s.  Ultra-mod and fab.
