Scotland poised to introduce same-sex marriage
Scotland could become the first part of the UK to introduce gay marriage after the SNP government announced plans to make the change.
Ministers confirmed they would bring forward a bill on the issue, indicating the earliest ceremonies could take place by the start of 2015.
Political leaders, equality organisations and some faith groups welcomed introducing same-sex marriage.
Same-sex couples in Scotland currently have the option to enter into civil partnerships and the Holyrood government has insisted no part of the religious community would be forced to hold same-sex weddings in churches.
The Scottish government said it would work with UK ministers to amend equality laws to protect celebrants from legal or disciplinary action if they refuse to take part or speak out against same-sex ceremonies.
Scotland’s deputy first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, said: “We are committed to a Scotland that is fair and equal and that is why we intend to proceed with plans to allow same-sex marriage and religious ceremonies for civil partnerships – we believe that this is the right thing to do.

Kellan Lutz to star in film where homosexuality is the norm

From The Advocate: Kellan Lutz and Camilla Belle will costar in a film as secret lovers in a world in which homosexuality is considered the norm, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In the role-reversal drama Love is All You Need, Belle will play a star quarterback (yes – she’s the quarterback) who is adored by a large fan base while Lutz, portrays an aspiring journalist. “The two fall in love, with their relationship growing in secret, but when the romance becomes public, the two find themselves being bullied,” according to THR.
Lutz, who is straight but viewed as one of the most LGBT-friendly actors in Hollywood, discussed his gay fans in a 2011 interview with The Advocate.
“I love them,” he said.” When I meet gay fans out and about, they’re so great to talk to — and I’m big on hugging, because I’m from the Midwest. They’re just so energetic and loving. I’m proud to have those fans, and their support means a lot to me. I don’t want just girls coming to my movies; I want guys to come too.”
Chick-Fil-A busted using fake Facebook profile to defend itself
Chick-Fil-A got busted today apparently using a fake “hours new” Facebook account defending it’s recent announcements about discontinuing use of Muppet toy give-aways.
Apparently, in a back and forth on Facebook it was revealed that “Abby” – defender of all things Chick-Fil-A – was a brand new Facebook account and her face pic was a stock photo from shutterstock.com.
Gizmodo points to what may be a huge Facebook fail by Chick-Fil-A:
“Chick-fil-A claimed the toys were pulled because of a “possible safety issue”. That, of course, is a complete lie. A lie that they’re propagating with fake Facebook accounts of Chick-fil-a sympathists. Yep, Chick-fil-A is still stuck in its own reality and is doubling down on its lie. Instead of owning up to the fact that The Jim Henson Company stopped doing business with them because they’re overrun with bigots, the chicken sandwich company is making fake Facebook accounts to defend its honor on the social network. How do we know the accounts are fake? Just check out this back and forth on Chick-fil-A’s Facebook page between real, breathing people and “Abby Farle”, a Facebook account that was made 8 hours ago by a chicken PR flack with a stock image of a teenage girl as her profile picture.”

Elton John at AIDS Conference: “I should be dead”
Elton John spoke yesterday at the 2012 AIDS Conference in Washington DC.
Among other remarks he said: “By all rights I shouldn’t be here today. I should be dead – six foot under in a wooden box. I should have contracted HIV in the 1980s and died in the 1990s, just like Freddie Mercury, just like Rock Hudson. Every day I wonder, how did I survive?”
Elton continued by saying everyone deserves compassion, dignity and love.

“Cinderfella” by American Idol Todrick Hall
I love creative people who don’t wait for a project to be handed to them.
Season 9 American Idol contestant Todrick Hall created a retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale with a gay twist and a few other Disney characters thrown in for good measure.
Writes Hall: “I wanted to tell this famous fairy tale in a new and innovative way, combining familiar top 40’s songs with classic Disney melodies. This story speaks volumes and I think that love is as classic as this fairy tale. It’s time for us to legalize love in all shapes and colors.”
The video includes Lance Bass as Prince Charming, Janice Dickinson as the evil stepmother, Shangela and Willam Belli as the stepsisters, plus Glozell as the Fairy Godmother, Kimberly Cole as Jasmine, and Aubrey O’Day as Alice.
Some very funny contemporary references here (“the artist formerly known as Prince Charming”). And who can resist Janice Dickinson at the evil stepmother?

Sharon Osbourne leaving America’s Got Talent?

Sharon Osbourne tweeted a bombshell right before the Tuesday night show taped: she’s apparently quitting “America’s Got Talent.”
In a tweet to co-judge Howard Stern, Osbourne posted, “My darling @HowardStern, money is not the reason I’m not returning to @nbcagt, it’s because…” and left it at that, without elaborating.
With that said, Osbourne made no mention of her tweet on the show, but posted to her Twitter feed throughout the live show regarding the performances.
